Orangeat is the strange-looking fairy who wears an outfit that has oranges attached to it. He first appears in the Bish

n SuperS movie when he drives his gondola full of kidnapped children toward the Marzipannu Castle. Poupelin and Banane are also returning to the castle at the same time. The three fairies control their gondolas when they play their pipes. When the sailor soldiers come near the castle on a gondola, Banane and Orangeat attack them with cannon balls. After the sailor soldiers arrive at the castle, Poupelin, Banane, and Orangeat attack with their Bonbon Babies. Orangeat uses the red Bonbon Babies when he attacks his enemies. Sailor Uranus uses her Space Sword Blaster maneuver to destroy Orangeat’s pipe. Then Orangeat becomes an red cuckoo that flies away. The Bish

sei, which means cuckoo fairy. In the Materials Collection, Ms. Takeuchi stated that Orangeat is a male transvestite who has broken teeth.
I used to think that the katakana characters
oranja represent auranja, which is apparently Old Provençal for orange. I later thought that they could also represent the French word orange. The French word goes better with the rest of the other names, which either are French words, or contain French words. (The name of the Marzipannu Castle is an exception because it is not a character, and the word marzipan is not etymologically French.)
oranju often approximates the French word orange. (
orenji approximates the English word orange.) Finally, I found out that the combination
oranja can represent the French term orangeat, which refers to a candied orange peel. (Orangeat is pronounced rather like “o-ran-zha” in French.) Candied orange peels are relevant to the pastry and candy motif, so Orangeat should be the fairy’s name.
An orange is a fruit from one of the several trees of the genus Citrus. Those trees are widely cultivated in warm regions and they have fragrant white flowers.
