Badiane is the wicked witch from another world who wishes to use the Sugar Energy of the children of Earth to power her Black Dream Hole. She plans to use the Black Dream Hole to swallow Earth after it takes in enough energy. She lied to Perle and the other three fairies by saying that, if the children are with her, they will stay children and no one will harm them. Poupelin, Orangeat, and Banane seem to think that they are doing something right when they kidnap the children. Perle does not kidnap any of the children in the Bishjo Senshi S
r M
n SuperS movie, which suggest that he is skeptical of Badiane’s intentions. When Sailor Moon and her comrades meet Badiane at the Marzipannu Castle, they see that Badiane is many stories tall! They also see that all the kidnapped children are sleeping in Dream Coffins under their feet. Badiane opens the roof or her chamber to reveal the Black Dream Hole. She holds Chibi Usa up to the Black Dream Hole, and black lightning strikes the girl. Sailor Moon and Perle board one of the gondolas and ride it toward Badiane. The gondola falls apart as it approaches Badiane’s barrier. Sailor Moon eventually gets her hands on the bag of cookies that Chibi Usa gave to Perle. She eats a cookie and enters the Black Dream Hole. Inside, Sailor Moon sees through Badiane’s illusion and breaks out of the Dream Coffin. While Sailor Moon protects Chibi Usa, she is injured from Badiane’s attacks. The light of Sailor Moon’s Silver Crystal shines out of the Black Dream Hole and the other sailor soldiers see it. They feed their powers to Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon. Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon perform their Moon Gorgeous Meditation maneuver and penetrate the Black Dream Hole. The Black Dream Hole explodes and Badiane is defeated.
In the Materials Collection, Ms. Takeuchi states that star anise are attached all over Badiane’s body as accessories. Badiane wears star anise earrings. “Her hair has the image of twisted bread. On her chest, the star anise and wings are attached directly to her skin. Her hair and skirt are pitch black.”

badinu that is used for the name of the character in the
Bishjo Senshi Sr Mn SuperS movie. The katakana character
nu is often used to approximate the final
ne letter combination in French words. That is why the katakana character
nu is at the end of
badiynu. Star anise is a type of exotic spice that is extracted from the star-shaped fruit of a small evergreen tree native to China. The Japanese plant the tree in their temples and on tombs. The reddish-brown fruit ripens into a six or eight pointed star shape.
Rihoko Yoshida (
Yoshida Rihoko) provided the voice for Badiane in the Bishjo Senshi Sr Mn SuperS movie. Ms. Yoshida is often referred to as Rihoko Tamegai.
