Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi

Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi are the Starseed Gardeners, also known as the Garden Crystal Senshi, or just Garden Senshi.

|
All of those names were created by fans, but Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi introduce themselves as the Star Gardeners ( ) in the manga.

They also are somehwhat in charge of the Sailor Animates and other minions, becausee they can be seen apologizing for the failure of the others, like those who are second in command would.

|
In the Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne section, the author says, “two animates appear on sand pillars behind them.” The “them” refers to Lethe and Mnemosyne, while the “two animates” refers to Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi. In the Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi section, the author says, “They also are somehwhat in charge of the Sailor Animates and other minions.” So, which is it? Are Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi “two animates,” or are they “in charge of the Sailor Animates”?

X is the Greek letter for "Chi",

|
The Greek letter Chi looks like the Roman letter X. In
ancient Athens, that letter represented the kh (aspirated k)
sound in blockhead. In modern Athens, the letter represents
the ch in the Scottish word Loch.

commenting on how Galaxia controled it with her Sapphire Crystal(in Galaxia's sun brooch).

|
In the manga, Galaxia’s item is not called the Sapphire Crystal. I give an explanation of its name elsewhere.

perhaps keeping the angry starseeds in the Crystal under control.

|
The Sailor Crystals and the starseeds themselves are never said to be sentient objects.

Also, Chi and Phi carry "sun" symbols on them, on their staffs and hair pieces. The sun sympbol happens to very Galaxia oriented, so perhaps they fact Chi and Phi wear such things -and their hair tied up in a "warrior's knot" like Galaxia- shows how close to her they are and how deadly they can be.

|
The tops of their staffs may be star-shaped, but nothing in the manga suggests that they represent stars in general or the sun in particular.

They were the ones who destroyed Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne when they were agreeing to help Sailor Moon, rather than kill her.

|
Sailor Lethe never agrees to help Sailor Moon. She goes to her grave, so to speak, with the notion that if Sailor Moon is killed, the wars will end.

Sailor Kakyuu attacked Phi with her Kinmoku Fusion Tempest and Sailor Moon finished Phi off with her Therapy Kiss.

|
In another section of the Tomb, the author claimed that Princess Kaky becomes “Sailor Kinmoku,” but in this section she claimed that the character can become “Sailor Kakyuu.” The author needs to make up her mind.
