A long time ago, a greedy ice woman came to Earth with the intention of making it part of her collection. Her comet produced ice crystals that covered the planet. The woman did not succeed in taking the Earth because she encountered a bright light called the Silver Crystal Power. That special power melted the ice and saved Earth. After the woman left Earth, she went on a long journey and experienced unbearable pain.

n S movie, a crystal from the woman’s comet lands on Earth. Kakeru finds and keeps it at his astronomical observatory. The woman says that that piece has the power to freeze Earth, so she sends her Snow Dancers to find it. The Snow Dancers freeze the people of Earth, but the sailor soldiers come to help. Sailor Moon uses her Moon Spiral Heart Attack maneuver and the attacking Snow Dancer is defeated. The snow melts and all seems to be well again.
Kakeru begins to suffer from a mysterious illness. The ice woman appears at his astronomical observatory and Kakeru mentions the tale about Princess Kaguya. When the woman hears the name Princess Kaguya, she says that she likes it. From that point on, she is often referred to as Princess Snow Kaguya. The crystal that Kakeru was keeping is actually taking away his energy and making him sick. Kaguya takes the crystal and throws it into an ocean. A giant ice crystal comes out of the water and it grows larger. As long as that crystal exists, it will continue to draw away Kakeru’s energy until he dies.
Kaguya and her Snow Dancers then begin to freeze up the Earth. Sailor Venus and her comrades attack Kaguya and her minions, but nothing seems to work very well. Sailor Moon appears and they all use their powers of love and friendship to activate the Silver Crystal Power. That power destroys Princess Snow Kaguya, her Snow Dancers, her ice crystal in the water, and her comet hovering near Earth.
Princess Snow Kaguya has a name that is similar to the name of the main character of
Taketori Monogatari, which means Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. According to the tale, a bamboo cutter finds an infant, with the elegance of a princess, inside the stem of bamboo. He takes her home and she grows into a fine maiden who is admired by many. The maiden has the name

Nayotake no Kaguya-hime, which means Shining Princess of Supple Bamboo. One day she tells the bamboo cutter that she must return to the moon, a place that is her original home. She leaves and forever after, the bamboo is sacred.
