Ningyo: The Deadly Mermaid

The "Aya" in ayatsuri is her first name, leaving ningyo, mermaid, to be her!

That is incorrect. If the ayatsuri in  ayatsuri ningy were removed,  ningy would be left. That ningy (the is long) means doll or puppet. The word  ningyo (the o is short) means mermaid.
