Perle is a fairy who protects the Sugar Energy of children. The wicked Badiane commanded Perle and the other three fairies to bring the children of Earth to her. She says that if the children are with her, they will not grow up and they will not be harmed. The Bishjo Senshi S

n SuperS movie does now show Perle taking any of the children from their homes, but it seems that he has that ability. The other fairies control the children by playing their pipes. Perle can control the Bonbon Babies, which are the candy-like creatures that the fairies use to attack their enemies. He also has the ability to make things move when he plays his flute. Chibi Usa is astonished when Perle makes cookies dance at a candy store. She decides to give Perle the bag of her “special,” homemade cookies as a gift. He also shows that he can control the flying gondolas that the fairies use. After Perle meets up with Chibi Usa and the other sailor soldiers, he opposes Badiane and the other fairies. The sailor soldiers defeat Perle’s brother, Poupelin, and the two other fairies, Banane and Orangeat. Before Perle leaves Chibi Usa and her friends, he grows a pair of rainbow-colored wings. The Bishjo Senshi Sr Mn SuperS Movie Memorial Album suggests that Perle is a 
hachidori no y
sei, which means hummingbird fairy.
In French, the word
perle means
pearl. The Japanese approximate the French word as
peruru. Incidentally, the German word for
pearl is also
perle. In Kyoto, there is a clothing store named
Boutique Perle and they write the
Perle part in Japanese as
peruru.

pearl.) The pearl serves as Perle’s characteristic emblem. In the
Materials Collection, Naoko Takeuchi wrote that the Perle’s themes are “pearl, liqueur, and bonbons.” She goes on to say that Perle wears pearl ornaments on his fairy outfit. He also wears pearl earrings. The book

Perles du Japon refers to tapioca.
Perles du Périgord is a fanciful name for truffles.
Chika Sakamoto (
Sakamoto Chika) provided the voice for Perle in the Bishjo Senshi Sr Mn SuperS movie.
