Live Action Sailor Moon update (Komatsu Ayaka Interview)

ROCK ON!!!

Happy New Years!

Today the Takeuchi interview with Komatsu Ayaka from the "Princess Room" part of the Sailor Moon channel site. The "note from Takeuchi" on the main page there hasn't changed. She has put up a new Christmas comic, but we will not be translating this.

Actor interviews!

Sailor Venus and Sailor V's actress, Komatsu Ayaka-chan.

Q1. What's your cell phone's melody?

Komatsu: Hamasaki Ayumi's "Forgiveness."

Q2. If you've got a nickname that they call you on the set, could you please tell me?

Komatsu: That'd probably be "Mina-chan"!

Q3. When you heard you would be Sailor Venus, what were you thinking at the time?

Komatsu: I was so happy! But I was also thinking, "I wonder if its all right if its me?" (laughs)

[This is pretty much the same answer Jyoji gave.]

Q4. What did it feel like when you first put on Venus's costume?

Komatsu: At that time, also, I was really happy! But I wasn't sure if the hairpiece really fit me, so I was kind of nervous about that...

Q5. In what ways are you like Aino Minako, and in what ways do you differ?

Komatsu: The way we're alike is... (let me think for a sec), (well I haven't really acted as her much yet) I don't really know. That's something that I'd like to see from now on, I think. The places where we're different are... Aino Minako, as Sailor V and the Princess, is a character who actively goes and leads people. But for me, conversely, I always help from the side. That's where I think we differ.

Q6. What were your impressions when you first went to the set? When you first met the staff?

Komatsu: When I first went to the set I thought, "There are so many people here, wow..." Everyone on the staff is very gentle and good natured.

Q8. What are the difficult things when you're taping? What are the fun things?

Komatsu: The difficult part is having to wake up really early in the morning! I'm not an early riser... [Ah, a girl after my own heart.] The fun part would be when everyone's all together and we pass the time with fun and excitement.

ROCK ON!!!
maybe not.

Q8. When you first met Takeuchi-sensei, what were your impressions of her? In one word please.

Komatsu: She's slender and beautiful!

[That's two words, for the record.]

Q9. Have you read the manga and/or seen the anime? Are there any scenes that stick out in your mind?

Komatsu: I have! What sticks out to me... well probably Aino Minako's clumsy blunders.

Q10. When you first saw pictures of yourself in your costume in magazines and posters, what was your thought?

Komatsu: Unexpectedly, its well matched.... (laughs)

Q11. In the future what would you like to improve on?

Komatsu: Singing! I'm pretty bad at it but I've truly been doing my all at it so please be sure to listen!

Q12. Do the 5 Sailor senshi get along? Has anyone stood out as the leader?

Komatsu: Of course, all of us are friends! With everyone together we've been combining our powers and working hard.

Q13. In this version of the story, Sailor V comes off as a second protagonist. What was it like to be chosen as this heroine? Also, if you have a style behind your method of playing Sailor V/Sailor Venus, please tell me!

Komatsu: At first I thought that, since Sailor V was someone who doesn't really have much to do with the others, I was pretty lucky to have gotten her part, but this part has actually been quite a big deal*... is how I think at least. Regardless, I want to play Sailor V as someone who is is cool and good, and Sailor Venus (as the Princess) as someone who can intensely pull everyone [forward].

*The phrase she uses is taihen da. Depending on how she said it this could have positive or negative connotations. It seems to me as though maybe she didn't want such a big part, but that could just be my imagination.

Thank you for speaking to us after another extremely tiring day of shooting!

That went well.
