Update
- Jay Navok
Checking In Part 1 / 2
Everything's going okay here, although I'm keeping myself busy so I
don't have much time for updates. I will try to translate the latest
Naoko's Room update this week, though.
Earlier today I was in
Azabu-Juuban. I need to begin preparing time runs to see how many
locations we'd be able to hit in the Warriors of Legend tour. I think
the number of places we'll be able to visit in just three days is
significant; it's amazing how close everything is, and how small the
neighborhood feels. You see a supermarket featured in an episode of R
(more on this in the next Warriors of Legend book; we'll be discussing
stuff about crystal points that will blow your mind), then just down the
street is the statue of the girl in red shoes with a dual-language
leaflet nearby that discusses its history and significance. I put a 100
yen coin into the statue's unicef slot. (More on that also in the next
WoL.) Turn the corner and there's the Azabu Juuban hot springs. We'll
probably vote to decide whether to stop by there for a soak.
Just nearing Azabu-Juuban is exciting, but actually seeing all these
places you literally get chills (even if it's not your first time
there); and the Tokyo Tower peeking out in the skyline makes it
absolutely perfect. Setting up this tour is going to take up a great
deal of my time over the next half year, and probably result in me
spending more than we end up getting in return (which is still the
status with Reflections of Japan; the meager royalties of the
book have not made back all our expenses), but I finished the test run
with the following conviction: Whoever comes for this tour next summer
is never going to forget it.
On another note, I live in an area of Tokyo that is quite a different
place from Azabu. Unlike Juuban, where much of the population is
foreigners and everyone speaks English, there are few foreigners here in
the old downtown district, or shitamachi. It is a very
traditional area. And there's an interesting restaurant just down the
street from me:

"Tsuki Usagi" is the name.
I haven't gone yet but plan to soon.
PART 2
It occurred to me yesterday that in my rush to get ready to leave, I
completely forgot about an important event last month. On September 11th
it was the 10 year anniversary of the series having aired in the United
States, completely with freaky live action Sailor Moon dress up lady on
Fox. Now that I'm finally settling in I hope to do the article I should
have done back then, within the next two days.
In the meantime, be
sure to check out
this
excellent, incredibly detailed and very informative update on the
dub's voice actors and actresses courtesy of SOS's sailordees.
P.S. In
addition to the BSSM forum, the Genvid and Cast Cabana forums are now
open to the public. You can post there without an account.
