Quick anime and or manga reviews

Azumanga Daioh - AD Vision has completed the release of the 4 manga books as well as the anime series. Loads of great music CDs like the soundtrack and character singles as well as one live performance are definite buys. The story is mostly in 4 panel strips and follows the lives of 4 girls about to complete their junior high school years. Very funny and enjoyable.

Hanaukyou Maids - Studio Ironcat got to only book 3 of the manga series which has at least 7 tankoubon out in Japan. Pioneer / Geneon is handling the anime. This is one with cute girls and fanservice, but there is a story so pay attention! This could be released as a 2 DVD set, but with the new La Verite version coming out, that may change. Hanaukyou Tarou goes to live with his grandfather after his mom dies only to find out his grandfather is stinking rich! And has a mansion with hundreds of maids running it! It would be paradise for most males, but Tarou is still a young boy with some aversion to the female body. Watch how he lives and manages to get along in such a chaotic lifestyle that most anyone would want (if they were male, that is!).

Hyper Police - Image Entertainment handled the anime on 5 DVDs a couple of years ago, so it's out there if you look. If you really want dub-only, it was made available on VHS and a bit cheaper than the DVDs. The translation on the subs isn't bad, but if you prefer dub be aware there's going to be lots of names that are not pronounced correctly (the errors made are so stupid, too). Tokyopop is currently handling the 9 book manga series. I have 1 to 4 and #7 in Japanese. ^_^ There's some bits of manga that didn't make it into the anime. Catgirls and fun.

DearS - Manga being handled by Tokyopop, anime is from Pioneer / Geneon. Sorta like Chobits, but in this case, the girl isn't a robot. Lots of fanservice, but also lots of fun. Cute girls in their awesome cosplay potential outfits. Every guy should have their own pretty space alien slave girl, even if you don't want to treat them like that. ^.^
