Anime Rei makes a triumphant comeback. |
The HICBC preview and
the full Toei
preview for Act 40.
Having been taught by Mamoru that the only way to protect the planet is to
do it oneself, Usagi seeks to harness the power of the legendary Silver
Crystal.
Meanwhile Minako decides that, given how little remaining life she has left,
she will quit singing and focus only on the completion of her previous
existence's mission. Just as she is about to does this, she is informed by
the office president that Minako's work will be taken over by a new face.
Having suddenly snapped away her work, the identity of this new idol who
appears before a surprised Minako is...
...blatantly spoiled by the actual episode preview, the picture to the
left and the the third line of Toei's preview. If you're going to try make
something a secret, make sure you people talk about this first.
Top left:
"There's no me other than Sailor Venus!"
Minako decides to retire from singing. But just then a new challenger tosses
her hat into the ring- "Mars Reiko"!
Not only is she stealing Minako's work, she's stealing her schema of naming
things to be as obvious as possible.

I'm
totally buying whatever they're selling. |
The top right box:
With her life fading thin, the dual identities of Aino Minako and Sailor
Venus have begun to constrict Minako. She decides to put all of what life
she has left into seeing her errand fulfilled, but will that be okay? Rei
can't just stand by with Minako like this. And further more, neither can
that President Saitou!
The next box has a picture of Minako and Rei back-to-back:
"The live action series was made just for episodes like this!"
Although this is something we've written before, it's appropriate for Act 40
as well! To this extent, producer Maihara and scenario writer Kobayashi have
exploded their best talents to their furthest extent. And we're doing the
same for the cast crew!
As the finale draws nearer and nearer, all that's left is to do our best in
a way so that people can't say, "Well Act 40 was the apex."
Box below has four pictures of scenes from Act 39
The sufferings of Shingo
From Act 39:
[Pic 1]
With the wild delusional power of Ikuko-mama and Saitou-President, suddenly
we're on the battlefield!
Exploding in the back is cement. It's a powder-spreading type of explosion.
Miyuu has already grown accustomed to explosions. (just kidding.)
[Pic 2]
Mid-battle provisions are these. Miyuu is fine with snakes. (Lies.)
[Pic 3]
The concern with filming with combat helmets on was heat stroke. The makeup
lady cools the heads of those on standby with ice.
[Pic 4]
Thoroughly checking the big stunt! With safety belts,
the two of the assistant directors provide support in the close-up scene
(the assistant directors are also betting their lives).Takeshi-kun was doing so much! Thanks for all your
hard work!
Another four pictures in the box below:
"If spring is coming" - From Act 39
[Pic 1]
The day the typhoon was eminent. As though reflecting Sailor Moon's heart,
filming was done in the midst of the storm's fierce blow.
[Pic 2]
The next day the typhoon was passing away and it was
clear and cloudless sky. It was so shiny to the extent that we'd say
"There's a limit to how clear it is!" The sky/air was dazzling!
[Pic 3]
While in the middle of prepping the set, gentle cameraman Kamibayashi holds
the parasol over Master.
[Pic 4]
The moon stick flying in the air (above the picture) is caught in the blanket
by gentle cameraman Kamibayashi. (left in the photo.)
Look at the way he stands with his legs firmly! His go get 'em spirit, shouting, "We'll
catch it!", is completely different compared to the other guy holding the
blanket (the young assistant director). Veterans have their own veteran
ways....
Last box. Dance video stuff:
We're waiting for your application forms for the Super Dance Lessons. The
bonus video, "Let's dance! Sailor Moon Super Dance Lesson" that is.
The application period began and we received more than twice as many
applications as we thought we'd get, causing thinks like shrieks of joy from
the person in charge. We don't have any plans to put this out on DVD and the
like, so this is your one and only chance! We've plugged our ears to our
manager's screams (laughs) so please go check it out.
Thank you kenji!!
Apart from posting Toei's comments last December that the show would end
at 50-52 episodes, we've made no official predictions as to the show's end
date. Given this update, and suggestions implied in the Visual Book interview
(comments were made by the actresses about the show lasting "only a half
year longer"; this was in May/April), we're now making final the following
prediction: the live action series action series will end this fall, at the
end of one full season. (50-52 episodes.) There will be no PGSM "R" nor a
PGSM 2. That is all.

Stupid TV Japan Commentary
TV Japan ought to be renamed "NHK USA." Basically, all they do is
live-feed programs from the NHK television station, which is kind of like
Japan's PBS. The programming of the NHK station consists of the following:
- News
- Sumo Wrestling
- News about Sumo Wrestling
- Sumo Wrestlers reading the news
- while Sumo Wrestling
Earlier I saw a weather report done by two people, a male and female
meteorologist team. Every sentence ended in, "desu ne" which to me is kind
of like, "y'know." The male meteorologist would make the forecast, and the
female was his own personal sycophant.
It thus ran like this:
Guy: "The weather over here will be hot, y'know."
Girl: "Yes, it will, y'know."
Guy: "And it'll be cold over here, y'know."
Girl: "Yes, it will, y'know."
I would have liked to see her just once fail to confirm his weather
report or disagree with him. But then I think he would explode.
