Live Action Update (Thirty-Eighth Episode Synopsis)

PICK THE ONE WITH THE CIRCLE OVER IT FOR A GOOD TIME.

Act 38

Sailors Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and Luna run, following the sounds of a harp. They stop and gaze up wide-eyed at Princess Sailor Moon, who is casually sitting atop a structure, playing a stringless harp while emananating a golden glow. Mercury steps forward. "Usagi!" Mars quickly steps in front of her, an arm outstretched to hold her back. "No," she says, "it's the Princess."

"Eliminate the Princess!" demands Beryl. She turns and faces Mamoru. "The one who came to influence Metalia was the Princess!" Mamoru can't believe his ears. "The Princess is the one who will call down disaster on the planet!"

Princess Sailor Moon gazes at the sky. "I..." she begins, voice full of emotion, "destroyed the planet!" The other senshi are shocked. "The planet..." repeats Jupiter. Princess Sailor Moon readies her harp again and starts to strum another melody, once again shining with that golden light. As they listen to the sad song, the other senshi gaze on with mixed feelings on their faces. Mercury looks pained, Mars is clearly shocked, Jupiter looks concerned, and Venus looks like this was what she expected all along.

Princess Sailor Moon plays and remembers the final moments of the kingdoms of the Past. Serenity and Endymion stand together, looking at something with concern and anger, when Serenity turns to the side. Beside her stands someone with a sword outstretched. Seeing this, Endymion reacts, running in front of Serenity just as the sword is brought down. It slashes him in the back and with a cry of pain, Endymion falls to the ground. Shocked, Serenity kneels at his side. "Endymion!" she cries, starting to glow white. The light grows and with an anguished scream, it engulfs both the moon and the Earth. Amongst the ruins, Serenity lies next to her fallen Prince, holding his hand.

"The Princess' power and Metalia's power are the same," says Beryl, "It is as I said. If the Princess continues in this manner, this world will once again be destroyed." Mamoru struggles with this news, but Beryl continues, bringing her finger close to his face as if caressing it. "Before that, with your own hands..." She steps away. "A person of the moon is unfit for this planet." Mamoru winces. "Usagi!" he thinks.

Princess Sailor Moon continues to play her harp as the other senshi look on. They start to step forward slowly. "Princess," calls out Venus softly. "Don't come any closer," Princess Sailor Moon tells them. The senshi stop in their tracks. Princess Sailor Moon starts to glow again, and as the sounds of her harp accelerate into a grand series of strums, the light grows, engulfing her and spiriting her away with a shower of light.

Princess Sailor Moon appears in another shower of light on top of a roof. "Endymion," she intones, looking up at the orange moon. Wind blowing her hair about, she turns and surveys the city around her. "As I thought, even though we're reborn, we can't be together on this planet." Sadly, she raises her harp to her shoulder and starts to play. The familiar glow shines brightly, engulfing everything. When it fades, Princess Sailor Moon stands against a backdrop of white, harp resting at her hip though we still hear the harp's sounds. Footsteps can be heard, and stepping before her is Usagi. They stand staring at each other, neither one saying a word.

Makoto paces in the secret hideout. "The Princess destroyed the Past and the world...For some reason, I can't adjust to that fact yet." "Me neither," says Luna, "It's unbelievable that that's what happened." We see Endymion and Serenity together, holding hands even in death. "Endymion's death was the trigger," Luna says. Rei sits down. "But, even now, it's been like that," she says, "When the power of the Illusionary Silver Crystal awakened, it was those times that Usagi's feelings became strong."

Flashback: Dark Mercury slashes the pink mittens she had knitted for Usagi before being brought over to the world of darkness by Kunzite. The slashed mittens fall to the ground, and a tear falls down Usagi's cheek and onto her transformation pendant. The pendant starts to glow pink, and Usagi's whole body glows golden, fading to reveal Sailor Moon. Her brooch flashes and a spherical cage of golden light radiates from her. Dark Mercury tries to shield her eyes from the light, but for an instant, the figure of Ami appears, calling, "Usagi!"

Flashback: Sailor Moon kneels beside a fallen Tuxedo Kamen. The image of Serenity appears and hovers near Sailor Moon. "Endymion!" she cries, and for a brief moment, we see her kneeling at Endymion's side, the Earth in the background. Sailor Moon's tiara shines, and as the light fades, we see that she has transformed into Serenity and is cradling Tuxedo Kamen's head in her lap. "Open your eyes!" she pleads. A tear drops from her face and in mid-air, it flashes and the bright light is blinding even from outside the building.

"From that time," says Rei, "the enemy became stronger, too."

Flashback: Jupiter attacks the rock-like youma with a lighting attack, but it simply absorbs the attack. Jupiter drops her hands in surprise.

"The power of the Illusionary Silver Crystal exerted influence on Queen Metalia, didn't it," says Ami. Makoto sits down on the couch. "Oh, man," she says, "And I thought we would just have to defeat the enemy." Luna sighs.

At a film studio, people are running around, some in costume, some not. Minako walks alone, talking to Artemis, who's in her bag. "The Princess and Prince's love was inauspicious, that is...the existance of the Princess brought doom to this planet, right?" Artemis responds, "Metalia's power and the Illusionary Silver Crystal's power were both the same." "And now, the same thing will happen again," she says. Artemis nods. Minako looks down at him. "But, we've got to stop it!" she says. "We're here for that reason. To protect the Princess and to ensure the tragedy of the Past does not repeat." She looks up determinedly as visions of Serenity and Endymion lying dead appear.

Still against that hazy white background of their subconscious, Princess Sailor Moon sits on a bench, strumming her harp. Usagi walks towards her. "Somehow, it's such a sad sound," comments Usagi. "Mamoru..." she pauses and corrects herself, "Endymion. Are you thinking of him?" "No matter how many times I'm reincarnated," Princess Sailor Moon replies, "I can't be with Endymion." She stops playing and brings her harp down. "Long ago, I always wished I was born on the Earth, but..." Princess Sailor Moon has a faraway look in her eye, "What has been decided since the past won't change.." "That may be true, but..." interjects Usagi, "But, I was able to meet him! Mamoru! It's been great! Even though people keep saying it's no good." She pauses, smiling a little. "Actually, in the beginning, it wasn't that great, but..."

Flashback: Usagi's looking at the model's dress and accidentally bumps into Mamoru. "I'm sorry!" she apologizes hastily. Mamoru just looks her over coldly. "Oh! You're mistaken!" insists Usagi, hanging the dress back up, "I'm not a model!" "No one would think that, so calm down!" replies Mamoru. Usagi glances at herself and them shoots back with an indignant, "What?!"

Flashback: Usagi and Ami walk together on the street. "In times like those we use these, right!" Demonstrating, Usagi pulls out her Teletia S from her bag with a little too much enthusiam, accidentally punching someone. "Ow!" Usagi drops into a low bow. "I'm sorry!" Looking up, she utters a cry of surprise. It's Mamoru. "You again?" he asks, annoyed, "Why are you always wandering around me?" "That's you, isn't it?" retorts Usagi. "In any case," he says, "don't prance around like an idiot." He walks away. "What you mean, 'like an idiot?!'" asks Usagi.

Flashback: Usagi has a name tag in hand and is trying to read it. "'Chijou...Ei?!'" She says outloud. "It's 'Chiba Mamoru.'" Usagi looks up and frowns. "Geez...you just appear everywhere, don't you?" asks Mamoru, stepping in front of her. "That's you!" Usagi tells him. Mamoru plucks the name tag out of her hand and shows it to her. "Normal people can read this!" he says. "At least thank me!" Usagi demands. He sighs and says with a hint of sarcasm, "Thanks a lot for picking it up." He glances at her name tag and moves her hand away so that he can read it. "'Tsukino Ko-bu-ta [piglet]," he reads. "That's Usagi!" she says angrily, shouting to him as he walks away. "Usagi! Usagi! Usagi!" She glares at him.

"He was the worst," Usagi says, "But Tuxedo Kamen wasn't that way."

Flashback: Jadeite throws a crystal shard at Sailor Moon. Luna yells out a warning to her. "I didn't know his identity, but I was attracted to him." Sailor Moon turns around to see the shard flying towards her. With a flourish of his cape, Tuxedo Kamen leaps into action and knocks Sailor Moon out of the way of the shard, which lands in the ground. As Tuxedo Kamen leaves, Sailor Moon calls after him. "Thank you for saving me! Um...who are you?" He turns around and holds his cape dramatically over his face. "Tuxedo Kamen," he says, and with a flourish, continues his exit. "Tuxedo Kamen?" repeats Sailor Moon. "How weird..." She gets a dreamy look in her eye. "But, somehow he's so cool!"

Flashback: Sailor Moon is pulling the remnants of a youma tentacle off of her legs. "Hurry!" cries Tuxedo Kamen, running to her and holding out his hand to help her up. The portal is closing quickly. "Hurry!" urges Mercury from the otherside. Tuxedo Kamen takes Sailor Moon by the shoulders, causing her to glance at his hands. "Jump!" he yells, and the two leap through the portal back to the normal world.

Flashback: "Why did you tell everyone about the Illusionary Silver Crystal?" asks Sailor Moon. "I don't have powers like the rest of you," replies Tuxedo Kamen. "But, no matter what, I wanted to get the Illusionary Silver Crystal." "Why?!" asks Sailor Moon. "In order...to find out what I am," he tells her.

"At that time," Usagi tells a stone-faced Princess Sailor Moon, "I didn't know that they were the same person." She smiles at Princess Sailor Moon, but her stony expression doesn't change.

"I'm telling you man the turtle came out of frickin' no where!"

Motoki struggles with opening the trunk to his cute turtle-ish car, complete with adorable turtle stuffed animals in the rear window. Trying to balance the big box he has in both hands, plus the plastic bags in one hand while trying to open the trunk with the other is no easy matter. Poor Motoki never gets a chance to succeed, though, as a man wearing black comes and knocks into Motoki as he passes. Motoki tumbles to the ground, spilling all the contents of his box onto the floor, including oranges, toilet paper, newspaper, and a bottle of some liquid that shatters. Motoki screams and stutters angrily to the person who walked into him. "H-h-hey you! Why'd you do that?" Nephrite, the man in black, harrumphs and replies. "I dunno." He starts to walk away. "Hey!" Motoki scrambles to his feet after him. "You suddenly bump into me and then say that! That's too much!" He becomes a little depressed and says. "It's the shopping for the store. Aaah! It's gonna come out of my pay!" Nephrite starts to walk away again, but Motoki stops him. "Hey! Help out! Pick something up!" "Why should it be necessary for me to do a thing like that?" asks Nephrite haughtily. Angrily, Motoki gets to his feet. "You knocked it over, didn't you!" Some passersby are starting to take notice, muttering, "What's that?!" "Hurry! Hurry! It's a bother," urges Motoki. Nephrite's face contorts with rage and his fingers are clenched stiffly. "Why you!" Motoki looks up at him. "Not, 'Why you!' Hold this!" He plops a bottle into Nephrite's hand. With a cry of anger, Nephrite smashes the bottle into the ground, startling Motoki. "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!" shouts a guard running towards them. "What are you doing?!" Nephrite tosses him to the ground. "Don't you touch me!" commands Nephrite, "You lowly human!" Motoki can't believe his ears. "What the heck are you saying?" he asks. "Wait! I said stop!" He tries to get Nephrite to calm down, but he, too, is tossed away. As Motoki lands with a crash, the rage on Nephrite's face is replaced with a look of glee.

In the Dark Kingdom, Mamoru stands before Metalia. "Endymion!" echoes Beryl's words, "Eliminate the Princess! With your own hands! The Princess is the one who will call down disaster on the planet!" "Princess..." Mamoru thinks to himself, "She was what started me to begin to search for who I was."

Flashback: In a blurry dream, a shadowed figure asks, "Please find the Illusionary Silver Crystal!" Before her, a caped figure stands.

Flashback: Sailor Moon leaps over a railing to face off with Naru's youma-posessed mother. "And then...I met her." Sailor Moon makes her Moonlight Stick appear and executes a "Moon Healing Escalation!" healing Naru's mother, who drops to the ground. "I did it!" exclaims Sailor Moon happily. "Awesome!" She leaps up and down.

Flashback: Mamoru hears "Moon Prism Power, Make Up!" and to his surprise, looks around a corner to see Usagi transform into Sailor Moon, mirrors spinning around her. Transformed, she runs off, leaving Mamoru staring after her. "No way..." he says, "Her?!" Jadeite attacks Sailor Moon and Sailor Jupiter by throwing a purple ball of energy at them. "Look out!" screams Luna. The two girls brace themselves for the blow, but before it can reach them, Tuxedo Kamen runs in front of them and takes the attack. After the battle, Sailor Moon wraps a handkerchief around his injured hand. "Thank you," he tells her.

"Probably, around that time, I..."

Flashback: Mamoru sits on a wall. Usagi approaches shyly, nikuman in hand. She splits it in half and hands him a piece. "This is kind of...my way of saying thanks," she says. He takes the piece and she sits next to him, eating happily.

"She will destroy the world?" asks Mamoru incredulously.

Jadeite's pacing around Zoisite's room again, with Zoisite sitting at the piano and Kunzite lounging in his familiar pose against the window. "Once more," declares Jadeite, "I'm going to Queen Beryl!" Zoisite stands up. "You haven't remembered Master?!" he asks angrily, making Jadeite halt in his tracks. "That's right," he says, "But Queen Beryl, too... Which one should I serve?!" he yells in frustration. "Then," speaks up Kunzite, "I'll go on ahead and cut down the source of your confusion." He walks out of the room with a flourish of his cape. "Kunzite!" Zoisite says angrily. "Wait!" He runs out of the room after Kunzite, leaving Jadeite standing there alone.

Usagi takes the Moon Phase watch off from around her neck. "Mamoru got this for me," she says. With a smile, she presents it to Princess Sailor Moon, who takes it in her hand. "It was only a small period of time," she says, "but we were able to be together." Princess Sailor Moon looks at the watch in her hand. "And then, you were made to part," she says, "According to the rule of the Past." Usagi's smile falters a little and she nods. "Even I had times when I thought it wouldn't work and I thought about giving up."

Flashback: Mamoru walks out from his apartment building. Usagi's face lights up upon seeing him, and she tries to hide the bag of cookies she made for him behind her back. Before she can do anything, though, a pretty girl runs up along side Mamoru and slips her hand into the crook of his arm. "Shall we go?" she asks with a smile. He nods. Usagi is shocked at what she sees. Seeing her standing there, Mamoru stops, surprised. "Is something wrong, Mamoru?" Hina asks. "No." The couple walks off, and Usagi brings out the bag of cookies. "I see, he has a girlfriend," she thinks sadly to herself, "There's really nothing to do with me, but..." She watches the two walk off.

"But, I couldn't change my feelings, after all."

Flashback: Usagi carelessly steps into the crosswalk when the light is still red. A car slams on its breaks and Mamoru pulls her back, the two of them falling to the ground as the car stops and then drives away. "Stupid!" yells Mamoru, "It was red!" Angrily, Usagi shouts back, "What do you mean, 'stupid?!'" startling the two of them.

The only problem is that he's actually sleeping in this picture.

Flashback: Tuxedo Kamen rushes to Sailor Moon's side after she's fallen down the stairs from pushing herself too hard. "Are you stupid?!" he shouts. "What do you mean, 'stupid?'" Her voice trails off as she makes the connection. "Why?" she asks herself, "Why didn't I notice till now?" Hesitantly, Sailor Moon reaches up and gently plucks the mask from Tuxedo Kamen's face, revealing Mamoru.

Flashback: Usagi wrestles with the star-like youma at the docks. "Why is a youma here?!" she wonders. In the struggle, her ticket is knocked from her hand and goes flying towards the ocean. Usagi reaches out desperately as the youma tightens its headlock around her. "The ticket?!" she cries. Her vision grows blurry, but the youma stops when a sword appears in its face. Wielding it is Mamoru in his Endymion armor. He chases the youma away from Usagi and catches her in one arm before she can fall. "Hang in there!" he tells her. She looks up at him in disbelief. "No way..." she thinks to herself, "It really is..."

Flashback: The Moon Phase dangles before USagi's face. "Huh?" She follows the chain up to see Mamoru holding it. "What's with this?" she asks as he places the watch in her hands. "In return for the muffler," he says, sitting down next to her, "I hadn't given you anything in exchange yet." "No way..." Usagi looks up at Mamoru's profile and smiles. She holds the watch tight in her hands. "Thank you!" She slowly rests her head on his shoulder.

Princess Sailor Moon holds the watch tightly in her hand and cradles it to her chest. "Endymion," she whispers, eyes closed. Usagi smiles and steps forward. "At that time, I decided..."

Flashback: "Our relationship will destroy this planet," Mamoru tells Usagi as they stand watching the water, "For those who don't want the Past to repeat itself, we're inauspicious. Usagi nods sadly, "Yeah." Mamoru turns to ask her, "Do you believe it?"

In Metalia's room, Mamoru's head snaps up at the memory. "That's right!" he thinks, "At that time, I..." With a newfound determination, he turns to leave the room, but his exit is interrupted by the entrance of Kunzite. He steps forward into the room and draws his sword.

Kunzite steps forward and draws his sword. "Kunzite," says Mamoru evenly, "If you want revenge on me that badly, I will let myself be cut down." Kunzite's eyes widen ever so slighty. "But, give me time," he continues. "Time?" asks Kunzite. "If I win to you in a sword fight, cooperate with me for a time." The corner of Kunzite's lips curls up in a slight smile. "What?" he asks disbelievingly. "What I have in mind should interest you, too," Mamoru replies. With a cocky grin, Kunzite lowers his sword. "Fine!" he says, "But do you remember that in swordsplay, the odds were with me?" Mamoru smiles subtlely. "No," he says, "It was a tie." He takes a step back and with a flash, changes into his Endymion armor. He draws his sword. With a smile, Kunzite charges him. The two cross swords. "Before Beryl can interfere, I'll have it out with you!" shouts Kunzite. The two are fighting some more with Zoisite runs in. "Kunzite!" he yells, "Stop it!" "Don't interfere!" shouts Mamoru. The two fight some more. Zoisite, looking on, murmurs, "Master..."

Princess Sailor Moon looks at the watch in her hands. "But, at this rate, the tragedy will be repeated. And even Endymion..." She remembers Endymion taking the sword blow for her and dying. "If that happens, I may do the same thing again." She remembers crying out Endymion's name and then detroying the moon and the Earth with an anguished scream. The bodies of the two lovers lie holding hands. "I..." Princess Sailor Moon disappears in a flash of light, and then Usagi reappears on a roof, watch in hand. "The world will be destroyed again," says the Princess, "Even now, we're moving towards that end. Usagi looks at the watch. Behind her, three of the robed youma appear. She turns around. "But, I..."

Flashback: "Do you believe it?" asks Mamoru.

Youma very upset at lack of PSM panty shots!

Usagi gives a start at the memory. The youma approach her. Looking at the watch in her hand, she nods and then slips it around her neck so she can transform. "Moon Prism Power, Make Up!" She gets ready to fight the youma.

Mamoru is doing his best against Kunzite, but he gets thrown to the floor. Kunzite steps towards him and brings his sword down for a killing blow, but Mamoru blocks in time. Struggling, he looks around for some means of escape and desperately kicks Kunzite away. Quickly rising, he slashes at Kunzite and misses, and then stabs forwards with his sword.

Sailor Moon stumbles. She weaves among the youma and dodges them as best she can. As they surround her and try to converge on her at once, she leaps above them and lands to the side, attacking with a "Moon Twilight Flash!" As she attacks, she remembers... "Our relationship will destroy this planet," Mamoru says, "For those who don't want the Past to repeat itself, we're inauspicious." Usagi nods sadly, "Yeah." Mamoru turns to ask her, "Do you believe it?" "But...!" she begins, but is cut off. "I don't believe it! I've decided that. That's why I returned. To be sure of it, together with you." Mamoru pulls her in for an embrace. "Never!" he says vehemently, "This world won't be destroyed." The youma are destroyed and Sailor Moon looks at her watch again.

Behind her, Jadeite, Zoisite, and Kunzite appear. Kunzite is gripping his upper arm. She turns around quickly, startled. Kunzite glances at his arm, annoyed at some memory, and then glances at Zoisite, who, along with Jadeite, turn and gesture with a flourish of their cloaks. They step aside to reveal Mamoru in his armor. Sailor Moon takes a step backwards. "Mamoru!" To her dismay, he draws his sword and holds it out in front of him. She takes another step back and Mamoru's words come back to her again. "Never!" She continues the promise outloud. "This world won't be destroyed!" Mamoru simply takes another step forwards.

Act 39:

"I'm home!" Usagi announces glumly as she walks into her dining room. "Welcome home," answers a male voice. Strolling across her dining room with a video camera is the president of Minako's company. Usagi notices him with some shock. "Huh! Minako's..." "Here we go!" he calls out, "On-the-scene reporter, Ikuko!" Usagi looks around, confused. Her mother pops up, using a ladle as a microphone, causing Usagi to goggle. "Here!" she says energetically, "On-the-scene, super housewife reporter, Tsukino Ikuko!" She winks and waves at the camera.

Once again, so many thanks to Hoshiko for getting this done despite leaving on vacation! Incredible! Many thanks to kenji as well!
