Act 37
Girl Luna keeps us up to date on the latest happenings from the secret
hideout. She gets shoved into a cat shaped balloon in order to show scenes
from the last episode. "Queen Beryl, in order to make Chiba Mamoru,
Endymion, hers, came to force him by holding the Shitennou hostage." Beryl
snaps her fingers and the Shitennou's weapons come alive an attack their
wielders. "It was because the Shitennou are important to Endymion." Mamoru
walks into Beryl's outstretched arms. "But then, a change came over Sailor
Moon!" Sailor Moon's tiara shines and a determined look comes over her.
"Don't you touch him!" she says, causing Beryl to whip her head around and
glare. The image of Princess Serenity is visible over a shining Sailor Moon,
and in a burst of golden light, Princess Sailor Moon steps forth. Beryl
attacks her, but Princess Sailor Moon simply swats the attacks away with her
sword. "Stop her, Endymion!" Beryl commands Mamoru, "Eliminate this little
girl! You are mine now! If you say you refuse me..." Her eyes flash and to
Mamoru's shock, Nephrite is forced to stab himself with his sword. Mamoru
steps towards Princess Sailor Moon and wraps his arms around her. "Usagi!"
he calls "Can you hear my voice? Enough! Come back to us! Usagi!" His voice
gets through and with a start, Princess Sailor Moon shines golden. The light
fades to reveal Usagi. "Endymion!" Beryl urges, "Come to me!" Usagi calls
after him, "Mamoru!" He turns and smiles at her. "It's okay. I'll return for
sure." Beryl whisks them all away and Usagi collapses, the other senshi
running to her. Luna pops up again. "It's said that the love of the Princess
and Prince will destroy the world, but," she hangs her head, "this kind of
parting..."
In the secret karaoke room, Makoto pulls a pink blanket over Usagi, who's
lying on the red couch. "Usagi seemed like a different person," comments
Ami. Luna and Makoto nod. "It seems like the Princess Serenity of the Past
awakened that way," says Luna, "Even though the form is different." Rei
remembers just after Usagi collapsed. "Usagi!" Mercury calls gently,
touching Usagi's cheek. "This, too?" asks Mars tearfully of Venus, "All of
this, too, are they all things burdened on us from the Past?!" As Rei
looks sadly at Usagi, Usagi starts to stir. She lets out a little groan,
causing Ami, Luna, and Makoto to turn and run to her side. "Usagi!" calls
Ami. "Are you okay?" asks Makoto. Usagi takes a moment to take in her
surroundings. "Yeah," she responds, slowly sitting upright. A slight pull
around her neck makes her look down at the Moon Phase watch, where it's
hanging in front of her chest. She takes it in both hands, gazing at it
sadly while remembering the first time she called Mamoru by his name, right
before he left to go with Beryl. "I see..." she says, "He's gone."
"Usagi..." Makoto says, gazing at her sadly. Ami touches on the shoulder and
nods. "Usagi!" Rei plops herself on the couch next to Usagi and commands,
"Cheer up now! Even though our Past is stupid, you can't let her take away a
person important to you!" The others all look at Rei in surprise, and Usagi
smiles and nods. "That's right!" She gets up off the couch. "He said that
he'd return for sure. If I sit around crying, he'd call me stupid and get
mad. It'll be okay." Ami nods. Makoto turns and tells Rei, "You said a good
thing." "It was nothing," says Rei, standing up in a huff while the Makoto
and Ami watch her with knowing grins. Usagi looks at the watch and says
quietly, "It'll be okay, right."

Mamoru sits at the end of a banquet table in a dim room. "You're not
eating!" complains Mio, who's seated at the other end, "It's good, you
know!" The dishes are all strange resembling something like a stuffed
animal, birds feet with toes like human fingers, and some strange blue
plant. Mamoru just looks at the food, his stony expression never changing.
"There's no poison or anything in it," insists Mio. She stands up and walks
to his end of the table. "When you're done, I'll take you to Queen Metalia's
room." She grabs one of the birds feet and starts to nibble it. "Before
that, let me meet Zoisite and the others," he says, "They're safe, aren't
they?" Mio nods and heads back to her seat, "Yeah, even though one is
missing. I dropped him off somewhere. It's okay!" She drops into her seat.
"The Shitennou are simply servants, right?" Mamoru turns his gaze to the
food and picks up some kind of meat. He bites into it noisily and Mio laughs
to herself.
"Queen Metalia's power is getting stronger," Beryl says to herself, her
arms lifted at her sides. "As I thought," she muses, "it's that..." Before
her, Queen Metalia emanates a strong pink energy.

It's dark in Usagi's room and plushie Luna slumbers contentedly on a
giant bunny pillow on the table. She doesn't stir when a sleeping Usagi
glows with a golden light and awakens. She sits upright in bed and sets her
feet on the ground, pausing to look up and whisper, "Endymion..." She
stands. The light fades and Luna's eyes pop open. Sleepily, she looks
around, rubbing her eyes. With a gasp, she notices Usagi is missing and hops
onto the floor. "Usagi!" She runs towards the open window, curtains
billowing in the wind. "Usagi!"
"Usagi!" In her girl form, Luna runs around the streets in the night.
"Usagi!" She stops and looks around. "Which way?" Gasping, she looks up and
puts a hand to her ears. There's harp music playing. "This sound..." She
gazes up some more and then turns her gaze back to the street. "Usagi!" she
yells, "Where are you?!"

Jadeite uses every opportunity to show off his shiny teeth. |
Jadeite paces in Zoisite's room, punching his palm. He turns and faces
towards Zoisite, who's at his piano, and Kunzite, who's leaning against
a wall. "Queen Beryl..." he begins, "went this far..." He remembers...
"The Shitennou are resurrected by me," Beryl says, arms raised at her
sides, "With one word, they'll run themselves through." The Shitennou's
weapons come to life against them, and Nephrite is stabbed by his own
sword. "Why?!" Jadeite asks angrily, "Even though we swore our
loyalty to her!" He falls to a knee and punches the floor. "The one you
should serve is not Beryl," says Zoisite, standing from his piano, "It
should be Master Endymion. Remember!" Jadeite clasps his head in anguish
while Kunzite looks on coldly. Just then Mamoru enters. Jadeite stands
and Kunzite turns his gaze on him. "Master!" exclaims Zoisite.
----
It's morning at the Tsukino household. An odango-headed figure sleeps
with her face in the pillow. "Usagi!" calls Ikuko, "How long are you going
to sleep?" Ikuko opens the door and steps into Usagi's room. "I
said...Usagi! Give me a response!" She gives her hips an angry shake. "I got
it!" comes the muffle response, "Give me a minute!" she waves Ikuko away.
"Your breakfast will get cold!" says Ikuko, "It's bitter melon omelet with
avocado sauce!" She leaves, shutting the door behind her, and Luna
immediately opens her eyes and the girl next to her gets up revealing Ami.
She quickly gets to her knees. "Ami, thank you!" says Luna, "Usagi's Mama
would have been in an uproar!" Ami shakes her head, indicating that there's
no need for thanks. "More than that, we've got to find Usagi quickly," she
says and starts to unbutton the pink pajama top she has over her clothes. "Mako-chan
said she'd come here afterwards," Luna says, "Rei said she's trying to go to
where Venus is." "What should we do about Usagi's Mama?" asks Ami, settling
along the edge of the bed and taking off the pajama top. "This kind of
deception, we can't pull it off any longer." Just then, the door opens and
Ikuko barges in. Ami's eyes go wide. "Hey, Usagi! WHAT?!" Ikuko stops and
look in shock. After a second of silence, she blinks and asks, "You're
awake?" Luna's eyes bulge in disbelief and Ami just looks at Usagi's mother
in confusion. "Hurry up and eat!" Ikuko says and then goes to pick up some
clothes off the ground, "I have to do laundry and clean up, too. Oh! There's
some packages coming, so can you take care of it, please! Mama lost her
contacts." We now see that her gaze is extremely blurry and that she's
unable to make out Ami's face clearly. "I've got to go and buy them." She
leaves and shuts the door. Luna relaxes and gets a glint in her eye. "We can
do this!" she says. "Eh?" asks Ami.

Ami picks at the avocado sauce omelet. She pick up a spoonful and then
holds it up to examine it skeptically from different angles. She starts to
bring it to her mouth but then hesitates and draws back. The door opens and
Ami gives a start and turns around. Shingo looks back at her with a confused
look on his face. Ikuko sticks her head in the door and says, "Usagi! Hurry
up and eat!" The doorbell rings. "Yes!" Ikuko shouts and goes to get the
door. Ami blinks at Shingo, who sighs and says "What are you doing?" He
heads back to his room, leaving Ami to sigh in relief. "Ah, Mako-chan!"
comes Ikuko's voice, "It's been awhile! Oh, you ate already? Oh, too bad! I
made avocado sauce omelets." She appears at the dining room door. "Usagi!"
she calls, "It's Mako-chan!" Ami turns around, and while the smile on
Makoto's face doesn't fade, her eyes widen in surprise. "Sorry, it's so
messy!" says Ikuko "Make yourself at home!" She leaves and Makoto chokes
out, "Usagi?" Ami laughs nervously.

Minako walks with Rei around a set of a mini city. Both have scripts
in their hands. "I've asked Artemis to search for the Princess now, as
well," explains Minako, "She hasn't come to where I am." "I see," says
Rei. "Thank you for your hard work!" Minako says while passing the
half-costumed Turtle Fighter. He mumbles a reply back at her. "But,"
asks Rei, "why did the Princess suddenly appear that way? Luna said her
form was different from what it was in the Past, but..." "It certainly
was different," agrees Minako, "Probably, it's because of what became of
Endymion, I think. It's just that, that power..." Minako flashes back to
the last battle. "Insolent girl!" Beryl shouts and unleashes a spiral
of energy at Princess Sailor Moon. The attack is absorbed by a
star-inscribed shield and is returned to Beryl with a huge explosion.
"Artemis says it's too strong," Minako says, sitting herself down
into a chair. "Too strong?" repeats Rei. "What in the world is that
Princess..." mutters Minako. "In the Past, what did she do when it was
time for battle?" Rei asks. "That battle..." muses Minako. She's
interrupted, however, by a man carrying a large rocket. "Huh? Is this
Minako's friend?" he asks. "She's a new star Mars Reiko," Minako replies
quickly. "Nice to meet you," says the man, and Rei smiles back
awkwardly. Minako stands. "I thought we'd read through the scenario!"
she says and thumbs open her script for "Turtle Fighter vs Squid Kick."
"Why?" she reads, "Why won't you answer me? Please! Answer me!" Rei
looks at the script, brows furrowed. "Please! Answer me!" repeats
Minako. Rei looks at her almost pleadingly and the man looks between the
two of them, confused. Minako nudges Rei with her elbow and Rei shokes
out, "Ku-kupi." Hiding her smile, Minako says, "You're not very good."
Rei glares at her. In her script it says "Nakonako: 'Kupi.'" Minako
picks up a Nakonako doll and hat. "You're not putting any feeling into
it," she says, "We'll start off with your appearance." She plops the hat
on Rei's head, causing Rei to sigh.
----
"I see..." Makoto sits on Usagi's chair. "So, when she disappeared, she
was the Princess." Girl Luna nods from her seat on Usagi's bed. "There's no
mistaking it," she says. "What about the harp sound you heard, Luna?" asks
Ami. "The Princess may have been playing it," she replies. "A harp, huh?"
muses Makoto, "She really does seem different from Usagi, doesn't she."
"Anyway, if we hear the harp one more time," says Luna, "we have to try and
find her." "But, who's going to take care of things here?" asks Ami.
The three scramble together for a game of jan ken pon. Together, they
chant, "Jan ken po! I can show!" [hoshiko's note: This isn't an actual
translation. Instead, it's how I played the game in childhood.] Luna wins,
scissors to the other girls' paper. "I did it!" she cheers. "Luna, you can't
do it!" says Makoto, making Luna pout. Ami and Makoto square off. "Jan ken
po! I can show! Show! Show! Show!" They keep going, trying to break their
string of ties.

Ikuko opens the door. "Usagi! I'm leaving the house to you! I'll be out
till night!" A very tall odango-haired girl is stretching, facing away from
Ikuko. "Yes!" replies Makoto in a muffled voice. "Huh?" asks Ikuko, "What's
with that voice?" Makoto pauses. She has one hand pinching her nose. "I just
caught a bit of a cold," she says and coughs a couple times. She glances
over to where Luna is hiding behind Usagi's pillow. "Mako-chan! Mako-chan!"
whispers Luna, "This! This! This!" she holds up a sign that says "More like
Usagi!" Makoto pinches her nose again and tries one more time, more
excitedly, "I caught a cold! Yay! Yay!" She prances around awkwardly. "Yay?"
asks Ikuko, "Go to sleep!" She forces Makoto into bed and tucks her in.
Turning to go, she comments. "It's getting worse! I'm seeing Usagi as big!"
Makoto looks up in fright. "Astigmatism?" asks Ikuko, horrified. She rushes
out and Makoto and Luna both sigh in relief.
Ami runs around the city, calling for Usagi.
----
"Master," Zoisite says, approaching Mamoru, "it's not necessary for you
to be here for our sakes. Leave immediately!" "If I had intended to abandon
you," Mamoru replies, his gaze sliding from Zoisite to Kunzite, "I wouldn't
have obeyed Beryl from the start." Kunzite averts his gaze while Jadeite
continues his steady glare. "Master," Zoisite says gratefully. "Are you
saying we should be grateful for your compassion?" asks Kunzite mockingly,
approaching Mamoru. "Kunzite," Zoisite intones warningly, taking a step
towards him. "I don't intend to feel grateful," Kunzite goes on. "I didn't
intend to do you a favor, either!" shoots back Mamoru, "You wanted to take
you revenge on me, didn't you?" He walks past Kunzite, "I betrayed you all,
and the world was destroyed...what does it mean?" Kunzite glances at Mamoru
out of the corner of his eyes. "When you know, what will you do?" he asks.
"Who knows?" says Mamoru, "I could be silent and let you cut me down," he
turns and faces Kunzite, "or perhaps it will be the opposite?" Kunzite
whirls and briefly, his lips curl into a smile. "I see," he says, "You're
different from before." He draws his sword. "If that's the case, be silent
and let me cut you down!" He motions with his sword and Zoisite steps
forward to interfere. "Stop it!"
----
"In the Past, the battle started when a rebellion on Earth occurred,"
Minako explains, "They say that the start of the disaster on Earth was
caused by the Princess and Endymion." "Was it because they had a forbidden
romance?" Rei asks seriously -- a hard thing to do considering she has a
Nakonako head strapped to her. Minako nods. "At that time, the power that
caused the disaster was Queen Metalia. With that power, the one who riled up
the people of Earth was Queen Beryl."
----
Kunzite points his sword at Mamoru's throat. "Kunzite!" shouts Zoisite,
"Master surrendered to Beryl for our sakes! Master is as he was a long time
ago." Mamoru and Kunzite glare at each other. A memory from the Past:
Endymion and Kunzite practice their swordplay against each other. Endymion's
swings are wild and uncontrolled while Kunzite blocks skillfully. They hold
their swords up. "Well, Master," says Kunzite, and Endymion charges at him
again. Kunzite counters his moves with ease and knocks Endymion to the
ground. With a friendly smile, Kunzite helps Endymion off the ground.
"Master, how many times do I have to tell you to understand?" He brushes
Endymion off, "That kind of violent sword is not appropriate for someone of
the royal family. Then, all you'll gain is an opening for you and your enemy
to die by each other's swords." "Where?" asks Endymion, "I'd be able to
defeat the enemy, won't I?" "No," replies Kunzite, "Master's sword, first of
all, must be a sword to survive." "Again with your lectures? Huh? Is yours a
sword to protect me?" Kunzite replies with a smile, "Our swords are swords
that will die for our master's sake." Endymion breaks out into a smile,
which Kunzite returns. Endymion clasps Kunzite by the shoulder. "One more
time," he says. The two continue with their practice.
While Mamoru and Kunzite continue to glare at each other, Jadeite stands
in the corner, gripping his head and grimacing. "Master..." he breathes.
"The past," says Kunzite, "all of it disappeared on that day of
destruction." He remembers screaming in anguish among ruins, the other
Shitennou crushed beneath them. "I will erase all of the people I was
concerned with. Naturally, that includes myself." Mamoru is shocked and
Kunzite picks that moment to swing his sword around to attack him. Mamoru
dodges the multiple swings and backs away, but Kunzite moves forward and
grips him by the shirt. He brings his sword up, but is interrupted. "What
are you doing?" Mio demands, stepping into the room. "Kunzite," she glares
blackly at him. "I don't know what would happen if you placed a hand on
Mamoru," she threatens, moving close enough to grab the hand Kunzite is
using to grip Mamoru's shirt. Her grip tightens and his hand drops. Kunzite
lowers his sword grudgingly. Mio smiles icily at him and then turns to
Mamoru, her smile suddenly dripping with sweetness. "Mamoru," she says,
"let's go to Metalia's room." She starts to lead him away by the arm, but he
wrenches his hand from her grip. With Mio staring daggers at him, Mamoru
exchanges a last cold glare with Kunzite before following Mio. Kunzite
sheathes his sword angrily.

Ami is still running around the city, calling Usagi's name. She runs by a
man sitting against a pillar. He pays her no mind, but looks up and
remembers dying as Nephrite. "Queen Beryl!" he calls while Beryl laughs
delightedly. He falls to the ground. With a start, Nephrite's awareness
is snapped back to the present and he brings a hand to his chest. There's no
wound. He looks at his hands and down at his appearance. He starts to laugh
hysterically, getting to his feet. And when he stops, his face contorts with
rage. "Queen Beryl!" he spits out.
Beryl turns to face Mamoru, who's entering Metalia's room. Warily, he
looks around as he steps closer to her. "Welcome," she says, "Endymion."

Mamoru gazes levelly at Beryl, who looks back, a faint smile playing
across her face.
"Queen Beryl," Minako tells Rei, "in the end, she came to invade the
palace on the Moon. On that day, something destroyed the Earth. The moon,
too, was destroyed." "Something, you say?" asks Rei, who is now in a full
body Nakonako costume, "Wasn't it Queen Metalia?" "I don't know," admits
Minako, "Probably, only the Princess and Endymion-" The man from before
interrupts, "Is there Endymion or something in there? Is that the revised
version? Was something added?" He looks around at the script in his hand.
The girls flip open their scripts and quickly adlib. "The single phrase, 'I
love you!'" says Minako. "Kupipi!" Rei says with feeling. The man claps.
----
"Finally!" Beryl says, "How long have I waited for the day I could face
you here!" Mamoru takes a couple steps forwards. "Are you satisfied with
this?" he asks. "You don't understand," she says coolly, "How much I wanted
to make you mine in the Past." She approaches him and reaches out, almost
brushing his face with her hand, "At that time, you were the symbol of
everything. You had power, wealth, happiness, beauty..." She remembers
spying on Endymion and Serenity in the past as they leaned in to each other
for a kiss. "Everything to meet a person's desire was there." Mamoru turns
from her and takes a few steps away. "What a selfish delusion!" he mocks,
"I'm just a human." "But, that Princess..." Beryl fumes, clenching her hand
as she remembered Princess Serenity returning her attack. "The insolent
one is you!" Princess Sailor Moon replies. Beryl turns furiously and
gestures. "Look, Endymion! Since the Past, that continues to give us power.
Queen Metalia!" Metalia glows with a bright light. "When that power awakens
completely, this world will be mine." "Queen Metalia?" repeats Mamoru. Beryl
turns. "But..." she begins. Mamoru looks at her.
----
Usagi runs and pauses, looking around. She can hear the music of a harp.
She turns about, trying to see the source of the music but can't find it.
She pull out her phone and presses a button. "Everyone!" she cries. Luna
turns, phone to her ear. "I got it!" she says. She and Makoto nod to each
other. Makoto stands. Minako and Rei run down a street. Makoto and Luna
arrive where Ami is and stop. "I can hear it," Makoto says, "Where is it?"
Minako and Rei approach. "Where's the Princess?" asks Minako. "We haven't
found her yet," replies Ami. They all look around, trying to find the source
of the music.
----
"For a long time, I've thought it mysterious," says Beryl as she and
Mamoru stare at Metalia's pulsing energy, "Why is it that Metalia's power,
even without energy, becomes stronger? This planet even gives birth to
youma."
At that moment, Rei senses something. She drops to a knee, placing a hand
to the ground. "Be careful!" she warns and the other girls come running to
her. Four youma appear out of the ground, wearing black robes and moaning.
"The same youma as before," says Rei. The youma approach them. "Transform!"
says Venus. Nodding, the four girls transform together. Luna whips out her
Lunatia L and also transforms. The girls ready themselves, and with a wink,
Venus goes tumbling into the approaching youma. The other senshi also run
and take on the youma. Well...the older girls do, anyway. Sailor Luna
quickly runs away screaming, halisen in hand. The youma surround the four
senshi, but with nods to each other, the girls quickly turn the tables,
surrounding the youma. "You did it!" cheers Sailor Luna, jumping up and
down. The senshi pull out their tambourines and Sailor Luna adds the power
of her moon stick and they defeat the youma.
Mercury turns as she hears another moan behind her. Three of the same
youma appear out from the ground. However, they all turn in the same
direction and then disappear back into the ground. "The youma are all
concentrating on one place," says Mercury as the others run to her, "What if
it's the direction they can hear the harp?" "Let's go see," says Venus. They
all run off.

"Neat." "Graceful." "Aromatic." "High class."

"Princess..." murmurs Beryl, catching Mamoru's attention. Beryl turns and
faces Mamoru. "The one who came to influence Metalia was the Princess!"
Mamoru can't believe his ears.
The youma pause only to be defeated by a stream of golden stars and blue
energy. The five senshi lower their weapons and then turn when the sound of
a harp is heard. Mercury's the first one to follow the sound, the others
close on her heels. They stop and stare up at the glowing figure. Princess
Sailor Moon lounges atop a structure, the glow surrounding her piercing the
night. She's playing a string-less harp. Mercury steps forward. "Usagi!"
Mars quickly steps in front of her, an arm outstretched to hold her back.
"No," she says, "it's the princess." Venus nods and looks up at Princess
Sailor Moon. She stops playing her harp and gazes up sadly at the sky.
"Endymion," she whispers.
Mamoru has a pained look on his face. "Endymion!" urges Beryl, "Eliminate
the Princess!" Mamoru is shocked and torn. "With your own hands! The
Princess is the one who will call down disaster on the planet!"
Princess Sailor Moon gazes at the sky. "I..." she begins, voice full of
emotion, "destroyed the planet!"
Venus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Luna...they're all shocked at what they
hear. They simply stare at Princess Sailor Moon, who continues to gaze at
the sky.
---- Act 38:
Princess Sailor Moon and Usagi gaze at each other against a misty white
backdrop. "No matter how many times I'm reincarnated," Serenity says, "I
can't be with Endymion." Mamoru, in his Endymion armor has sword in hand.
Jadeite, Zoisite, and Kunzite, clutching his arm, stand behind him.
Usagi turns. Mamoru, in white armor, fights with Kunzite. Sailor Moon
poses. Endymion drops to the ground, in pain. "Usagi!" whispers Mamoru.
Princess Sailor Moon and Usagi face each other. "But I-!" says Usagi.
Usagi places the Moon Phase watch in Princess Sailor Moon's hand.
Once again, thank you thank you Hoshiko and Kenij!
