Genvid Fun Facts

-The first week or so of the Soapbox's existence, there was a link on the menu to a locked directory with WoL's proposal files. It was stupid to take a pointless risk so we got rid of it.

-Genvid.com receives most of its visitors from the United States, with Japan second. Canada and Mexico follow.

-The domain genvid.com was apparently owned by the DEC corporation in the early/mid 90s. I picked it up in 2001.

-One of the most visited sites on the domain is Lunar Archivists' Moonstruck! video game fonts page. It seems Google likes displaying it when people are looking for Megaman fonts and such.

-Somehow we receive more hits for searches of "Inuyasha" on this domain than "Sailor Moon."

-Many people don't realize that the Genvid forums are also the forums for Ian Miller's Dies Gaudii website. There have been cases of the opposite.

-The forums' first moderator, Cordelia Lefay, earned her position by reading a forum post into an MP3 file.

-Our thief graphic is one of the most downloaded images on the domain, for obvious reasons.

-To create WoL Dr. Xadium built a "Core Dump" consisting of a searchable database of anime and manga scripts. The design of Core Dump mirrors the original Soapbox layout, but the rotation uses manga images of the senshi instead of garage kits.

-I have had all the images to do the second half of the episode 67 review for a year and a half but it takes around four hours to come up with the captions to that and I've been lazy.

-The Jadeite for President articles were partially the reworking of something I submitted to Columbia's parody newspaper, "The Fed."

-There's an Easter egg on WoL.com (which has been there since launch.)

-We never heard back from Kitagawa even though she promised to write back to everyone who sent her stuff.

-She has probably never worn the shirt we sent her.

                                             -Which is understandable.

-My brother's friend purchased six or seven Genvid shirts. He wears it practically every day of the week. My brother also got shirts for everyone in his dorm suite. One time they all wore it on the same day and he said to them, "You know what I like about us? We're always thinking." When he saw their blank faces and realized none of them knew what he was talking about, he berated them for not even paying attention to what the hell they were wearing.

-A few days ago someone came into the store my brother's friend was working in and asked him what the company was whose shirt he's wearing. This then answered himself and said, "Oh I know Genvid, it's an exercise equipment company."

-The night we launched the shirts I stayed up all night getting the page ready. I had classes until late the next day and fell asleep driving on the highway home. My car was totaled.

-When I was interviewed for the Monbusho last year one of the people on the interview panel told me she visited the website. (It's listed on my business card.) We had just done a Chibiusa parody page and I nearly panicked thinking she had seen that.

-The conversation went something like this:

-"Uh, was the website all pink?"
                       -"No."
                       -"What was on it?"
                       -"You had done a translation."
                       -*PHEW*

-We stopped doing WTF Sailormoon.com posts of the day because it got boring. Every post there ends up looking equally horrible and I was tired of having to do extra work every update.

-I think the e-mail address to submit posts still exists but I haven't checked it in well over a year.

-Roland Parliament has known about WoL for about two years, through speaking with Lunar Archivist. It was thanks to him that we got Stephanie Morgenstern to do that Genvid .wav file last year.

-If you could interview some of the dub actors/actresses, what would you ask them?

-The name Genvid stands for---arg! no! what are you doing?! (dies)
