Act 36

"I love you baby, baby..." Usagi walks into Minako's live concert, Mamoru behind her. "It's Minako!" exclaims Usagi happily, watching as Minako sings "Romance" on stage. As Minako sings and dances, though, she starts to get dizzy. Her vision becomes blurred. She manages to sing "Hey! I can see hope..." before collapsing to the ground. The crowd reacts in shock and stage hands come running to Minako's side, trying to rouse her. "What's going on?" asks Usagi. "Minako!" she shouts, "Minako!"

"We can't visit Minako?" asks Usagi incredulously at Azabu Public hospital. Makoto leans in next to her. "Is she that bad?" she asks. "No," replies Minako's manager, "she's tired from anemia, so there's no worry, but right now it seems she doesn't want to see anyone. Sorry." The girls exchange glances, worried and disappointed.

"Aww," complains Usagi as the girls walk out of the hospital, "and we made the effort to come and see how she was. After finally learning that Minako is our ally, I can't do anything." Ami speaks up, "She's put distance between her and us from before, so..." Usagi continues, "Even though I'm a huge fan, I didn't notice." No one says anything and keeps walking, so Usagi glares at them. "Everyone, you're so mean!" she says, "You didn't tell me! In any case, you thought I would do something fanatical, didn't you." "Sorry," apologizes Ami. Usagi's firm look melts and grudgingly she says, "Well, I think I probably would have." She walks away, and Ami and Makoto exchange a laugh before following. Rei starts to follow behind more slowly, then pauses and looks back at the hospital. "Venus..." she thinks.

Beryl turns around angrily, and raises her arms. Dark energy shoots from her hands and towards Kunzite and Zoisite, who both raise their cloaks and brace themselves. Mio and Jadeite watch on without expression. Finally, Beryl stops, and the two fall to their knees. "Won't you notice soon that defying me is useless?" Beryl asks. She turns, "You should thank me for not taking away your lives!" She raises her hands again and Kunzite and Zoisite disappear in a flash of light. "Now," she continues, "about Endymion..." Jadeite flinches and steps forward. "Forgive me! If I wasn't hindered by Kunzite..." Beryl cuts him off, "Enough. If Endymion's memories are returning, there is another way. This way may be better." Mio breaks into an oily smile. "Nephrite!" calls Beryl, "You're there, aren't you. Come out." Jadeite and Mio turn to look as Nephrite emerges from just beyond the entrance to the chamber. He steps forward hesitantly, trying to keep his face under control. "It's been while hasn't it," asks Beryl, "Are you a bit tired?" "Queen Beryl..." he begins with some effort. "No doubt, you're resentful of me," she says. Nephrite quickly steps forward to stand near Jadeite. "No," he insists, "if I can be by your side again, I pledge you my loyalty even more!" Beryl smiles, "As I thought, the Shitennou are a treasure. I guess I should treasure you, then." Jadeite and Nephrite drop to their knees in a respectful bow. A deep, amused laugh bubbles from Beryl's throat.

"Tomorrow, won't you go shopping with me?" Usagi's talking on the phone as she enters the dining room, and Ikuko's ears perk up at the conversation. "I got it," continues Usagi, "Well, 11:00, okay! Bye!" She hangs up. "Usagi!" calls Ikuko, "That's your boyfriend, isn't it? I know about it, you started dating recently!" "Huh?" exclaims Usagi as Shingo chokes on a mouthful of food. "You aren't going to hide it from Mama, are you?" Ikuko bumps Usagi teasingly with her hip. "Hey, what kind of person is he? What's his name?" "What kind of person..." starts Usagi, and Ikuko listens in closer. "His name is..." she goes on, embarrassed, "Chiba Mamoru." "Mamoru?" repeats Ikuko, "Huh, then, you call him 'Mamo! Mamo!' or something, right." She turns and asks, "'Mamorin?'" Shingo makes a gagging sound. Usagi glares at him. "We don't call each other anything!" she insists. Ikuko just continues on, "Then, Usagi, you're 'Usa! Usa!'? Wow, how passionate!" She laughs and heads back to the kitchen. "I said we don't call each other anything!" Usagi shouts after her. "Ugh, I'm gonna be sick," declares Shingo. "I said she's wrong!" Usagi tells him angrily. Shingo just moves his placemat further away from Usagi and makes more disgusted noises. Usagi ignore him and thinks to herself, "I still can't call him by his name. When I look at his face, somehow..."

Usagi walks down the street the next day, thinking to herself out loud. "What should I bring her when I visit? Minako's tired, so then, something nourishing would be good!" She pauses, seeing Mamoru leaning lazily on a tree ahead, waiting for her. "Ah!" Usagi raises her hand to greet him, Ma-" She stops, and her mother's teasing haunts her, "You call him 'Mamo! Mamo!' or something, right." Usagi pauses and then tries again, "Mamo-" but once again, her mother's teasing comes back to her, "Mamorin?" Usagi pauses, sighs, and then decides. "Heey!" Mamoru turns and smiles when he sees Usagi running towards him, arm waving.

It's not so bad. I have internet.

Holding hands, the two go shopping. Usagi pauses at a shop window and pulls Mamoru into a store. Inside, she rifles through the clothes on the rack and pulls out a dark pink jacket, holding it up first to Mamoru, then to herself. Mamoru shakes his head. He plops a black hat onto Usagi's head and the two laugh. Mamoru's examining a mannequin when it topples forward onto him. Laughing, Usagi helps him right the mannequin. At a flower shop, the two pick various flowers -- Mamoru even has a couple of large feathers at one point -- and hold them out to each other.

At Azabu Public Hospital, Minako is in bed, working on her Nakonako branded laptop. Artemis is looking on at her work as a knock is heard at the door. "Come in!" calls Minako. Rei slides the door open and pokes her head in. She looks worried. "What's wrong?" asks Minako, "Come inside!" Rei makes her way to Minako's bed, asking, "Are you okay? I heard you were tired, but..." "I want to say 'I'm fine,'" Minako replies, "but I think I should tell you the truth, so I asked you to come. I've come to the point where I need your support." "'The truth' you say?" asks Rei. "About my illness." Rei's eyes widen and a flower petal falls from a vase of flowers arranged nearby. "I probably only have about 2 to 3 months left to live," admits Minako. Rei's eyes dart around. "What?" Artemis looks crestfallen. "It's something I've known before I became a sailor senshi," Minako says, "The problem isn't that. It's that there's a possibility that the senshi will be lacking a person before you defeat the enemy. That's me, the leader." "Hold on a second," Rei says, "You're telling me so suddenly..." She leans in to Minako and asks, "There's a possibility you'll be cured, isn't there?" "Even if I have surgery, the probability of success is near zero. It's like it's all promised out, I can't help but laugh." "This isn't a laughing matter," Rei says mournfully. "That's why I've stopped using my time uselessly," says Minako. "From the time that I remembered the Past, I've understood that the thing I must do is this." We see a flashback of Minako's. She's standing on a roof, looking at the city's night lights, when Artemis drops from the sky. She catches him without thought and then, eyes wide, stares at him as he talks to her. "That's why," she continues, "in order to finish my mission, I'll use the life I have left. But, from now on, sometimes I'll get like this I think. That's why I want you to support me." "Wait!" insists Rei, "Is it so necessary that you have to live the rest of your life as a senshi? If there's even a small possibility..." "I don't want to make my life useless," cuts in Minako, a hint of desperation creeping into her voice. Rei stops and looks shocked. "Mars," asks Minako, "Do you understand why we've been born, burdened with the memories of our past lives? Isn't it so that we won't repeat the tragedy of the past? The Princess and Endymion are going against that mission. I want you to be careful. The enemy is also becoming stronger." Rei looks down, like she's about to cry. Minako smiles and says jokingly, "What a miserable face. I'm okay. I can still fight, after all. I don't trust you to take care of everything yet." Rei looks at Minako.

There you are gimmick romance item! I was wondering when you'd show up. Shame on you for keeping us waiting so long.

Usagi walks up some stairs with Mamoru while looking at the book in her hands, entitled "Scenery." "A photobook was a good idea!" she says, The scenery at the hospital is so boring." Something in a store window catches Usagi's eye and she pauses to look at it while Mamoru walks on, oblivious. There's a star-shaped pocket watch in the window. The label under it says "Moon Phase." "Wow, this is really nice!" breathes Usagi. She turns to call Mamoru, who's walking away. "Hey! Look at this! Hey, Chiba-!" Finally, she just gives up and shouts, "HEY!" Mamoru, as well as several other people walking on the street, turn around to look at her. Mamoru looks around, a pained look on his face, and then runs back to her, "What is it? How embarrassing!" Usagi looks abashed. "I was just saying," she mutters, "I thought this watch was nice." "You," sighs Mamoru, "why won't you call me by my name?" Usagi is startled. "Huh? No reason." "Don't tell me. You didn't forget, did you?" "It's not that!" "You couldn't read my name before," he reminds her. "That was a long time ago!" she shouts back, indignant. "Well, with you, it's possible," he remarks, exasperated. He leans over to look at the Moon Phase watch in the window. "What is it with you?" demands Usagi, "Always making me look stupid! You don't understand my feelings at all!" She stomps away, leaving Mamoru looking after her, startled. "What was that?" he asks out loud, and then looks at the store window again.

Usagi stomps her way over to a bench and then sits herself down, fuming. The Moon Phase watch suddenly is hanging before her face. "Huh?" She follows the chain up to see Mamoru holding it. "What's with this?" she asks as he places the watch in her hands. "In return for the muffler," he says, sitting down next to her, "I hadn't given you anything in exchange yet." "No way..." Usagi looks up at Mamoru's profile and smiles. She holds the watch tight in her hands. "Thank you!" She slowly rests her head on his shoulder.

"Endymion," breaths Beryl, "Once, no matter how hard I wished, I couldn't have him." She remembers a time in the Past; Endymion walks in his shining white armor and laughs when he sees Princess Serenity. The two of them laugh in delight as they run to each other and spin about. They lean in towards each other and Endymion turns his head to accept a kiss on the cheek. In the background, a girl with fiery red hair watches the happy couple. Fuming, she ducks behind the column she was watching from and bites her lip in frustration. "This time," Beryl vows, "I will have him!" She turns. "Princess, right before your eyes!

Mamoru is walking along by himself. Seeing something ahead, he stops. It's Mio. Quickly blurring the gap between them, she appears before him, smiling. "You..." Mamoru says menacingly. "Come with me," Mio smiles, "Mamoru, your precious," her voice suddenly become low and sultry, "Shitennou are waiting." She smiles evilly as Mamoru looks at her, brows furrowed.

"He's coming. Endymion," Beryl says, "And the Princess."

Usagi's head snaps up and she stands suddenly, causing Makoto and Ami to look at her. "Usagi, what's wrong?" asks Ami. "Someone's calling," she says, "I have to go!" She runs out of the hideout, Makoto and Luna calling after her. Makoto and Ami exchange a glance and quickly follow Usagi, with Ami pausing to scoop up Luna.

Rei jumps to her feet in her room, Teletia S to her ear. "Yeah," she nods, "I got it." She hangs up the phone in a flash and leaves in a hurry.

Usagi is running down the street with Ami and Makoto chasing after her. Rei runs over a bridge.

Mamoru and Mio are facing each other in a field somewhere, in front of a pond. "What in the world are we doing in a place like this?" he asks her. Mio spreads her arms and slowly approaches him, speaking in a slow, deep voice. "Finally, I've overcome tens of thousands of years." Dark petals of energy fly from her and towards Mamoru. "Endymion!" says Mio. A fountain of petals shoots up around her, and she disappears. The petals fall to the ground, and Mamoru runs over to look at where she was standing. He looks down to see the petals disappear. He gasps, and then slowly raises his head. Beryl is standing behind him. "Endymion!" she calls, and he whips his head around. "How long I have waited to be able to meet you again!" she says. "Who are you?!" growls Mamoru, then his eyes narrow, "Could it be?" "Do you remember a little?" she asks, "That's right, I was always looking at you." He gasps. "What?"

Just then, Sailor Moon comes running with Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter close behind her. Beryl turns to look at them with a smile. "So you've come?" Mamoru looks at Sailor Moon. "Usagi!" he says, a hint of what sounds like guilt creeping into his tone. Sailor Moon looks at the scene, confused. "What?" she asks, "What does this mean?" Mercury, Jupiter, and Mars also look on in confusion. Venus comes running in from behind them. Mars turns and watches her run towards them, Artemis tucked under her arm. She stops next to Mars. "Beryl!" she shouts, "What are you doing?" Beryl smirks. "Princess!" she says, "Say your goodbyes! From today, your Endymion will become mine!" Sailor Moon looks confused and Mamoru glares at Beryl. "Together with me," she goes on, "we'll seize Queen Metalia's power! Together, we'll rule the world!" "Don't say your selfish desires!" cuts in Mamoru, "Why me?" Beryl turns to him and laughs. Raising her arms, purple bolts of energy strike the ground before her, bringing with them the four Shitennou. The senshi take a collective step back and gasp. Kunzite looks around, his gaze falling on Mamoru. Mamoru gasps and looks around. "Master!" exclaims Zoisite. Nephrite readies his sword, and Jadeite holds up his crystal shard. The senshi all ready themselves for a fight with Mamoru between the two groups.

She's really not that scary in daylight. She looks like a clown. One that's visiting Jurassic Park for some reason.

Before anyone can do anything, though, Beryl snaps her fingers in the air, and the Shitennou's weapons come alive in their hands, all trying to kill their wielder. It's all they can do to keep themselves from fall to their own hand. Mamoru and the senshi all gasp in surprise. "Queen Beryl is..." gasps out Jadeite. "This is..." grunts Nephrite. "The Shitennou are resurrected by me," Beryl says, arms raised at her sides, "With one word, they'll run themselves through." Zoisite struggles with his weapon, as does Kunzite, but he has enough strength to get out an indignant, "What?!" "Endymion!" Beryl calls, "If you don't want to force the Shitennou to die, come to me." "No!" breaths Sailor Moon. "How cruel. Why are you doing this?!" she asks desperately. "Endymion," Beryl calls again, "since the distant Past, I've thought fondly of you. Only you!" "The Past?" asks Mars. Venus glares at Beryl. "Come!" Beryl beckons, "You can't abandon them, these servants who once swore their loyalty to you." "Nonsense!" shouts Kunzite, "I've already..." His eyes widen as the sword in his hand approaches his throat with renewed strength. Beryl smiles and Mamoru gives a start. Kunzite struggles as the sword inches near his flesh.

"Stop!" cries Mamoru. Kunzite glares at Mamoru. "Come to me, Endymion!" urges Beryl. "Hold on a second!" calls Sailor Moon, "This is meaningless! You can't change a person's feelings by threatening them!" "Silence!" shouts Beryl. She gestures and the Shitennou's weapons glow with energy. "Protect the Princess!" cries Venus. The other three guardians nod and step in front of Sailor Moon, bringing their arms up. The Shitennou unleash their attacks simultaneously. For a moment, a shield comes up around the senshi, but it shatters, and Sailor Moon lets out a shriek as a fiery explosion blossoms up around the senshi.

The attack causes an explosion around the senshi, and the four guardians fall to the ground. "Everyone!" calls Sailor Moon. "Everyone, hang in there!" urges Luna. "Are you okay?" asks Artemis. Sailor Moon looks at her friends, on the ground and in pain. "How cruel!" she whispers. "Endymion!" Beryl is getting impatient, "How long will you make me wait?!" She snaps her fingers and the Shitennou's weapons go flying towards their wielders' throats again. "Wait!" cries Mamoru. He seems to struggle with himself for a moment, then mutters, "I understand." The senshi all lift their heads to look at him. Sailor Moon looks on desperately. "Yes!" cries Beryl, "Come to me!" Slowly, Mamoru takes a step and another and another. Sailor Moon's shoulders droop. Beryl smiles in delight, arms outstretched as Mamoru slowly makes his way towards her and Sailor Moon can't do anything about it. "Why?" asks a still struggling Nephrite. "Is he saving us?" asks Jadeite. "Master!" cries Zoisite. Struggling against his weapon, Kunzite finally manages to break it from its spell and runs towards Mamoru, readying his sword to strike him down. Beryl gestures with her hand and Kunzite's arm is frozen in mid swing. Mamoru passes by unharmed. As he passes the line of Shitennou, Zoisite calls out to him. "It's no use! Master! Go back!" Beryl stretches her arms out for Mamoru desperately. "No..." whispers Sailor Moon. Mamoru nears Beryl, and walks into her embrace. Beryl smiles in triumph and she lowers her hand to grasp Mamoru by the shoulder. Watching, the helpless expression fades from Sailor Moon's face, replaced by a steely look in her eyes. Her tiara shines as she lowers her gaze. "Don't you touch him!" she commands. Beryl snaps her gaze towards Sailor Moon. Mamoru turns around to look on at Sailor Moon, confused, as to the other senshi.

My kinda girl.

Before their eyes, Sailor Moon shines with a golden light, the image of Princess Serenity becomes visible for a second. Beams of light shine all around her from her brooch, causing the Shitennou and Beryl to shy away. "What is this?!" asks Beryl. Mamoru shields his eyes from the light, calling "Usagi!" We see the Moon Kingdom's palace in all its beauty. Standing on the foot of the steps is Sailor Moon, and walking down behind her is Princess Serenity. Serenity approaches Sailor Moon and steps through her. The figures of both Serenity and Sailor Moon melt away as before them steps a stronger form of Sailor Moon: Princess Sailor Moon. She raises her arms over her head and before her as her lacy bows arrange themselves behind her.

Princess Sailor Moon stands with her eyes closed before the others. She opens her eyes, and he gaze falls on Beryl. Mamoru gasps and looks at the vision of royal beauty before him. The senshi all look on in shock. "Usagi!" cries Luna. Artemis lets out a gasp. "What is this?" asks Beryl, "What is the meaning of this?!" She raises her hands and fires a wave of energy at Sailor Moon, causing explosions to go up around the senshi. The other girls manage to let out frightened squeaks as the fire billows up around them. Mamoru starts to run, but stops. Beryl just laughs hysterically behind him. Her laughs are cut short, however, when the fire is blown back to reveal an untouched Princess Sailor Moon standing beyond. Beryl flinches in fright. Princess Sailor Moon slowly makes her way forwards. "What are you doing?" demands Beryl, "Eliminate her!" All the Shitennou's weapons charge up and they attack with their energy. A sword appears in Princess Sailor Moon's hands, which she uses to effortlessly absorb the energy and deflect it to the ground behind her. Squeaks of fright come from some of the senshi as explosions erupt near them. Sailor Moon continues to advance, a cool expression on her face. The senshi get to their feet. "No," says Jupiter, "that's not Usagi." "Then," asks Mars, "that's..." "It's the Princess," says Venus. The others look at her. "Princess Serenity." Princess Sailor Moon certainly looks regal, marching forwards with her cool demeanor. Mars looks on in disbelief. Moon raises her sword level with the ground, pointing it at Beryl. "Usagi!" breathes Mamoru. "Princess," warns Beryl, "don't be so sure of yourself. Now, I am the same as you, no, I am even greater." Princess Sailor Moon continues her march, sword outstretched. "Can't you hear me?" asks Beryl, "First, stand down! Lower your sword!" Showing signs of panic, Beryl raises her arms and launches attack after attack at Moon, who simply swats them casually away. "Insolent girl!" Beryl shouts and unleashes a spiral of energy at her. Princess Sailor Moon raises her sword to the sky and a shield appears in front of her, absorbing the attack. She sweeps her sword in the shape of a star, inscribing the shape into the shield and stabs her sword through the center of the star, sending the attack back at Beryl. An explosion erupts in front of them. Sailor Moon stands with her sword stretched out in front of her. "The insolent one is you!" she says. Beryl begins to rise. "Princess!" calls Luna. "You little...!" shouts Beryl in fury. "Stop her, Endymion! Eliminate this little girl! You are mine now! If you say you refuse me..."

I would like to meet the person in charge of placing those stuffed animals on the ground and tell him or her what a fine job they are doing.

Her eyes flash and Nephrite brings his sword around, pointed at his middle. His eyes widen in shock. The sword glows purple, and before anyone can do anything, stabs Nephrite through. Mamoru gasps and all the guardians step forward in shock. Nephrite holds his hand up in front of him and gasps out, "Queen Beryl!" Beryl smiles with almost giddy delight. Princess Sailor Moon just looks on without batting an eyelash. Nephrite drops to the ground, eyes wide open. "Nephrite!" calls Jadeite, looking on in shock with Kunzite. Zoisite glances at Mamoru, who looks desperately at Sailor Moon. He starts to step forward. "Endymion!" calls Beryl angrily. Mamoru makes his way to Princess Sailor Moon, who lowers her sword at his approach. "Endymion," she says coolly. They gaze at each other for a few moments before Mamoru takes her in his arms. "Usagi!" he calls gently, "Can you hear my voice? Enough! Come back to us! Usagi! Usagi!" Sailor Moon gives a start and then with a golden glow, turns back into Usagi. "Huh?" she exclaims, "I..." Mamoru releases her. "Usagi!" calls Mercury as the other senshi run towards her. Mamoru smiles painfully. "Endymion! Come to me!" urges Beryl. Slowly, Mamoru places his hands on Usagi's shoulders, then turns and approaches Beryl. "Mamoru!" Usagi calls out after him, calling him by his name for the first time. Mamoru pauses and turns to face her. "It's okay," he reassures her, "I'll return for sure." A greedy gleam is in Beryl's eyes as she beckons Mamoru to her. She gestures and the six of them disappear. "Mamoru..." Usagi whimpers. She grabs the watch hanging around her neck and stares at it, remember Mamoru smiling at her. Slowly, she falls backwards. The other senshi cry out as they run forward to catch her. "Usagi!" calls Mercury, gently patting Usagi's cheek. "This, too?" asks Mars tearfully of Venus, "All of this, too, are they all things burdened on us from the Past?!" Mercury and Jupiter look up at Venus, who just lowers her eyes to look at the unconscious Usagi.

Act 37 Preview:

It's night time; Usagi's in her pajamas in her room. Looking up, she whispers, "Endymion."

Kitty Luna runs towards the open window, curtains billowing in the night breeze. "Usagi!" calls girl Luna. Outside, she looks around. "Where are you?!"

In her chambers, Beryl gestures, "Look, Endymion!" Mamoru turns and looks. "Queen Metalia," he says in a rough voice.

Sailors Luna, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, and Venus stand ready to battle.

Ami has her hair done up like Usagi and is in Usagi's room when Ikuko walks in. "Hey, Usagi!" she says. Ami turns to look, eyes widening. "Huh, what?!" exclaims Ikuko. Makoto has her hair done up in odango, and is holding her nose to make her voice higher as she prances back and forth excitedly. "Yes!" she squeaks, her back to Ikuko, who's looking on in confusion. "Yes!"

Another round of applause for Hoshiko and Kenji!! These two are incredible!
