Act 33
Act 33 opens with a recap of the scene where Mamoru embraces Usagi. "I don't believe it!" he declares, "That's why I returned. To be sure of it, together with you. Never! This world won't be destroyed."
Luna's voice cuts in, "You can't! You can't! You can't!" She's with Ami, Makoto, and Rei on one side; Usagi's on the other, looking sulky. "Didn't I say that the love between the Princess and Prince was inauspicious?! It's an important regulation!" Usagi just lowers her head. "Usagi!" speaks up Rei, "Are you serious? Are you really set on being with Chiba Mamoru?" Usagi meekly replies, "Well, when you say it that bluntly, somehow..." Luna jumps in again, "There's no way! It'll be the same as in the past!" "Luna, calm down!" Makoto urges. Luna complains, "But...!" but she does stay quiet. Ami calmly looks at Usagi, "Usagi, you and him don't believe it, right?" Usagi nods, "He said, 'Never! This world won't be destroyed.' He promised. 'We'll fight together.' That's why we're not keeping it secret from all of you and going ahead without hesitation..." Rei looks annoyed, Makoto looks thoughtful, Luna has her annoyed eyes in, and Ami looks up with a smile and says, "Then, I won't believe it either." "Really?" asks Usagi. Makoto nods, "If you've already resolved to do it, there's nothing we can do." Rei says angrily, "I don't approve!" She stands up and paces around to the back of Ami and Makoto. "Moreso than the Past, it's about whether it's okay for you to be with a boy right now. And what if he betrays you?" Usagi shakes her head emphatically, "I'm sure that would never happen!" Rei looks exasperated and says into Ami's ear, "That's why we have to be careful together." She looks at Makoto, "So that nothing happens to our important princess." all three of them turn to Usagi with a smile. Usagi looks at them, confused, "Huh?" Luna, however, has caught on and turns around to protest, "W-wait, Rei!" "If I said 'Stop it!' it'd be of no use, right?" Rei asks Usagi with a smile. "You were going to go all the way to London!" Makoto stands up as well and teases, "Serving a princess is tough, isn't it?" Ami smiles and says, "Usagi, isn't it great? You liked him that much, didn't you?" Usagi finally gets is and a big grin spreads across her face. She runs up and hugs everyone, "Ami! Everyone! Thank you! Okay! We'll do our best!" She gathers them all together, just as she did when Makoto first appeared as Sailor Jupiter. Usagi turns around and jumps into the air, fist raised. "Oh!" But just like in Act 6, she's the only one doing it. "Don't make me be the only one!" she complains and the other laugh. "I guess our teamwork is getting better, right?" comments Luna with an exasperated sigh.

In his chambers, Zoisite is sprawled on the floor, leaning against the wall. Jadeite steps in front of him. "Zoisite, why are you defying Queen Beryl? She gave us our lives, didn't she?!" "This was not a form I wished for," replies Zoisite. "Other than serving Queen Beryl, I have no wishes!" shoots back Jadeite. "You're wrong," says Zoisite, raising his head, "In the memories of that Past that flowed in you, when you met Master Endymion..." Jadeite remembers when Mamoru appears in Endymion's armor, just for a few moments. Zoisite gets to his feet and starts to hobble towards Jadeite. "Master is the one you serve. You were the youngest and you looked up to Master like an older brother." He grabs hold of Jadeite's shoulders and urges, "Remember!" Jadeite grabs Zoisite and slams him to the piano. "Silence! In me, there is only Queen Beryl!" From the shadows, Nephrite watches and clenches a fist in frustration, "Why can't I remember? Disfavored by Queen Beryl, and I don't even have my memories of the Past!"

Rei and Ami are walking together. "And in the end, it regressed into karaoke," says Rei with a smile. "But it was interesting," says Ami, "Usagi seemed happy." Rei nods. They both pause and begin to go their separate ways. Rei waves, "See you!" Ami nods and waves back, "Yup! See you again tomorrow!" And with that, they walk in opposite directions of each other.
Ami unlocks the door to her apartment. "I'm home!" She flips on the lights in all the rooms as she makes her way to the kitchen, "I'm home!" Putting her bag on the dining room table, she flips on the kitchen lights and glances at the note written on the message board there. Her mother's voice reads the note, "Welcome home. For the next two days, I'll be staying overnight at the hospital." Ami opens the doors to her freezer and refrigerator and pulls out a bowl of soup covered with saran wrap. "Your recent mock exam grade were good as always." She makes her way to the oven. "Ami, you're Mama's pride. From Mama." Ami writes a reply to her mother on the board, "Thank you for working so hard. For me, too, Mama is my pride. I'll do my best so that I can become a doctor like Mama. Ami."

Rei walks through Hikawa Jinja, "I'm home." She flips on the light for her room and kneels in front of her desk, smiling and gently saying, "I'm home!" It's a picture of her when she was younger, sitting on a swing with her mother standing behind her. Rei looks wistfully at the picture.

In the night, a garden of red flowers that don't look fake at all start to glimmer and then they all glow with a gold light that shoots up and together to form a figure.
In Usagi's room, Luna tries to wake her up. "U-Usagi! There's a youma's presence!" Usagi wakes with a start and sits up in her bed, clutching Luna to her chest as she does. Usagi then sighs and falls back asleep, oblivious to Luna's muffled cries. "Crushing me~!" Luna complains and then manages to squeeze free, but not completely. "Rei! Ami! Mako-chan!" she cries desperately.
The glow around the figure fades, revealing a red and green flowery youma. It gets up and walks unsteadily and then gives a primal scream to the sky. As it turns around, though, a stream of fire knocks it back. It turns to see the silhouette of Mars, walking coolly towards the youma, footsteps echoing in the dark. She stops and looks at the ground, and then dramatically her eyes turn towards the youma. They run towards each other. Mars grabs the youma by the shoulders and flips over it, turning while she's in the air to shoot fire at it. The youma is knocked to the ground, smoking. Mars starts to walk towards it again, but the youma cowers a bit before disappearing in a flurry of flower petals. As Mars looks around, someone asks loudly, "Rei!" It's Ami, running towards Mars, "Where's the youma?!" Mars smiles. "It disappeared," she explains, and then as she walks towards Ami, she transforms back into Rei with a glow of red light. "There's no presence, either. Looks like it ran away."
Suddenly, a light shines on the two of them. The girls squint as they try to see who it is coming towards them. The light is lowered, revealing a policeman. "You two! What are you doing at this time of night?" he asks. The girls look guiltily around. What looks like a few minutes later, Rei is explaining to the policeman, "Really, we were studying together! We just ran a little late! Right?" she asks Ami, who nods. "You don't have to call our houses..." "I understand," he replies, "so please tell me your addresses. I'll walk you there." "Really, it's okay!" insists Rei, "Right?" Ami nods again. "We'll go home by ourselves." The flowers are wavering in the wind, no longer glowing.
From the flowers, we see Metalia's altar, brightly glowing. Queen Beryl turns around and comments to herself, "As I thought. I wonder why... Queen Metalia's power is moving." Kunzite retreats from where he was spying on Beryl and starts to walk down the hall. He thinks to himself, "At this rate, Metalia's power will be Beryl's." He pounds a fist on the rock wall. "Looks like I'll have to resort to other means," he says outloud.

In the morning, Usagi and Ami are walking to school together, sporting their new summer uniforms. "Sorry about yesterday!" apologizes Usagi, "I was late in going! It seems like Mako-chan ran into some trouble, too."
We see what happened to Makoto last night. Still yawning, she runs out on her way to help, but she accidentally runs into a rack of bikes, knocking one over, which causes the rest of the to topple in a domino effect. She yells as they all fall down and quickly begins to pick all the bikes up.

"But," Usagi comments, "I can't believe you were caught by a policeman!" Ami nods, "Yeah, I'm glad Mama had the night shift, but," she turns to Usagi, looking rather worried, "I wonder if that policeman will call my house." Usagi thinks it over for a second, "That's certainly something to be worried about." Her phone starts to rings and the reaches into her bag to get it. "Sorry! I'm gonna check my mail for a sec." Usagi answers her phone, which has an email from Mamoru. She's about to open it when Naru come up from her behind her and surprises her. "Usagi! What are you smiling at?" "I'm not smiling!" insists Usagi, holding her phone protectively away. "Ooh, how suspicious!" laughs Naru. Someone snatches Usagi's phone out of her hand. It's Mio. "What's suspicious?" she asks, and her eyes shoot daggers as soon as she sees what's on Usagi's screen. "Hey, what are you doing, grabbing a person's cell phone like that," demands Naru, giving Usagi her phone back. "How scary!" whines Mio jokingly, then asks Naru, "Oh yeah, Osaka-san, are your pains from before okay?" "Yeah, thanks to you," replies Naru. Ami's phone starts to ring and she answers it as Mio gushes, "Thank goodness! I was so worried!" Naru replies, "I'm okay." Ami turns her back to the others to read the email she received from her mother. It reads, "On your way home, Drop by the hospital. Mama." Just then the bell starts to chime. "Ah! We're late!" says Usagi, "Let's go! Hurry! Hurry!" All four girls start to run.

"No way!" Motoki is shocked, "You came home?" He leans over the counter, "Why?" Mamoru rubs his neck sheepishly, "Well, for various reasons..." Usagi walks into Crown then, greeting, "Hello!" "Welcome!" replies Motoki. Usagi then smiles up at Mamoru, taking a step closer to him. "Sorry to keep you waiting!" Mamoru nods. Motoki is shocked. "Wai- What's this?" He points back and forth between the two of them, "What's this mean?! Huh?!" Kamekichi sticks his head out of his shell and croaks.
Sitting outside at a cafe, Usagi pushes a bag across the table to Mamoru. "Here." She's giddy as a school girl as Mamoru takes the muffler out of the bag and starts to examine it. He laughs, "Not very good, huh?" Usagi gets mad, "Then, I won't give it to you! Give it back!" She makes a grab for the muffler, but Mamoru pulls it away and starts to wrap it around his neck. Usagi stands up. "Hey! I said give it back!" She walks over to him, grabs the two ends of the muffler, and starts tugging with glee. "Stop it! Stop it!" laughs Mamoru, "It hurts! Hurry up and let go!" Meanwhile, Mio is watching from behind a tree, glaring at the happy couple with hatred.
In her chambers, Beryl furiously makes a fist. "Endymion..." she says, "as I thought!"

At the Meiwa University Hospital, Ami waits in a lobby nervously. She spots her mother, Saeko, walking down a hallway with another doctor and runs to greet her with a smile as the other doctor walks away, "Mama!" Ami's mother looks up, "Oh, Ami? I don't have much time." She pulls Ami to the side. "What is it? Did something happen?" asks Ami. Ami's mother smiles patiently, "I got the call from the police about the other night." Ami starts at the news and drops her gaze.
Rei is walking on her way to Hikawa Jinja. Suddenly, a man clambers out of a black car, runs up to her and bows deeply. "Miss! How do you do? I'm your father's secretary, Nishizaki Shouichi. I'm very pleased to meet you!" he bows deeply again, presenting his card to Rei. "What?" she asks. Nishizaki looks up at her and then gets up, putting his card away. "I was sent to pick you up," he explains, "Your father is waiting. He wants to talk over a meal. Well, please..." he gestures towards the car. "What's the meaning of this?" demands Rei, "Why?" Nishizaki nods, "Actually," he looks around to see if anyone may hear and takes a step closer to Rei, "there was a call from the police." Rei's eyes widen.
In the hospital cafeteria, Ami sits with her mother uncomfortably. She reaches for the straw of her drink, but reconsiders when her mother shifts. Saeko smiles and starts, "You know, I tried calling the cram school. I was surprised that you've been taking days off recently." Ami scrambles to answer, "That's..." but she can't finish her sentence. Her mother goes on, "Don't keep secrets between us. No matter what it is, tell me. When you can't tell me, write it on the message board. That was our rule, wasn't it?" "I'm sorry," apologizes Ami. "It's my fault, too," her mother says, "As I thought, [your school] isn't up to your level." Ami looks up at her mother as she goes on. "I've thought about it before, but I think you should transfer." "What?" breathes Ami. Her mother explains, "Until intermediate school, I thought a normal school would be okay for you, but like I thought, you've been influenced by all these things." Ami cuts in, "You're mistaken! This has no relation to school at all!" "Then, what is it?" "That's..." Ami hesitates and just then her mother's beeper goes off. "Sorry," apologizes Saeko, "It's okay! Focus on your studies, okay!" She stands up and walks away, placing a hand on Ami's shoulder and bowing to some colleagues as she passes by. Ami watches her leave with a worried look on her face. Saeko walks down a hallway towards a set of double-doors. She pauses in front of the doors and turns around with a motherly smile. Her voice says "You'll become a doctor, right?" Ami smiles back. "That's your dream and mine, right." Saeko pushes the doors open and walks into the bright light on the other side. Ami's smile fades as her mother's figure disappears.
Rei stalks furiously up the steps to Hikawa Jinja. "I'm not going to speak to Papa! He's just worried about harm coming to his political image, isn't he?!" Nishizaki trails after her. "That's wrong!" he insists, "Your father was very concerned about you, Rei, and is even thinking about taking you in!" Rei halts in her tracks, her eyes wide. Nishizaki smiles and nods his head, stepping close to Rei, "That's because, you're father and child, right. Well," he turns towards her, "shall we go?" "Leave," commands Rei furiously, "I have no intention of meeting him or living with him!" She turns and runs, leaving Nishizaki calling after her. "Miss! Wait! Miss!" He gives up and lets Rei go on her way. Rei runs into the shrine and to her room. "What is this?" she thinks, "Why now?" She looks at the picture of her and her mother, "Even though he did nothing then."
The sound of machines beeping in the background, a young Rei hesitantly approaches a crack in a pair of drawn curtains. Looking in, she sees nurses bustling about a bed. One attends to the IV drip of the woman on the bed. There's an oxygen mask on her face and her head lolls about weakly. "Mama!" says little Rei. Her mother's left hand rises off the bed, trying to reach for something though her mother stil lies with her eyes closed. "Mama!" Rei repeats, and her mother's hand searches about some more. Older Rei's thoughts are heard, "He left Mama like that alone. I can never forgive him!"

In the hideout at Crown, Usagi is in shock, "What?! They contacted your houses after all?!" "Seriously?" asks Makoto, "What did your parents say?" Rei's lounging on the couch, playing with one of the heart-shaped pillows. "Nothing much," she says in an off-hand manner, "What he says is none of my concern." Usagi turns to Ami, who's poking her fancy straw in her blue drink. "Ami, what about you? Was she mad?" Ami shakes her head. "Not really," she murmurs. Usagi sits down next to her, "Really? That's good!" Quietly, Ami admits, "She told me to transfer." "What?!" asks Usagi, "Why?" Ami hesitates and says nothing, but Makoto speaks up, "Because of your friends bad influence, right?" Ami explains, "When we fought, sometimes I couldn't go to cram school, so she's already arranged an interview for a new school. She said we'll go together today." "Today?!" exclaims Usagi, "Are you really going to transfer?" "I don't want to!" yells Ami, "It's just that, I haven't thought about how can I say it to Mama." Rei speaks up from her seat, "If you don't want to, all you have to do is say you don't want to." "But," Ami insists, "Mama has done so much for me. I don't want to dissapoint her." "She's just forcing her own thoughts on you," says Rei angrily, "Parents are so selfish. Ami's Mama is the same way." Ami stands up and shouts angrily, "Don't you talk about my mother like that!" Rei looks around coolly and then stands up and retorts, "Fine, just do as your told, then." The two girls glare at each other. "Hold it!" urges Luna, "Rei! Ami!" Usagi looks on with concern. Makoto steps between the two and says in English, "Stop!" She takes each one by an arm and suggests, "Why don't we go out and go eat some cake?" Usagi scrambles to her feet, "I agree!" Luna chimes in with a grin, "Then, me too!" and turns into her girl form, quickly whipping out her mirror to put on lip gloss. Usagi throws Luna a dirty look, and then looks with concern from Ami to Rei, who are looking worried.
The five girls are walking on the sidewalk. "Where should we go?" asks Usagi. Luna skips along happily and says, "I'll have some yummy ice cream, and yummy cream puffs, and yummy crepes, and yummy milk, and yummy fish!" A black car pulls alongside the road. The girls are oblivious and Usagi continues on, "Yummy ice cream is fine with me!" She turns to the others. "Where do you want to go?" Staring at the ground as she walks, Rei sees a man in a suit step out of the car and raises her gaze. A stern looking man glares at her. "Papa!"

Rei's father steps out of his car and gazes sternly down at Rei. "Papa!" she exclaims. The other girls stop and turn around to look at the little confrontation. Rei's father closes the gap between the two of them. "It seems you gave the police a bit of trouble." "That has nothing to do with you," snaps Rei, refusing to look at him. "It does," replies her father smoothly, "You're my daughter." Rei looks at him. "Come with me," he says, "I'll listen to your story." "I don't intend to tell you anything," she retorts. "Rei..." her father growls. Rei looks at her friends, shoots an annoyed glance at her father and then steps over to them. "Can you guys go on ahead for me?" she asks. "Huh?!" Usagi sounds like she wants to object, but Makoto cuts her off before she can start. "Usagi!" She backs down and Makoto ushers the other three on. Luna and Usagi cast concerned looks back at Rei and her father. "Rei...I wonder if something happened with her father," she wonders outloud. "It seems like that, doesn't it," agrees Luna, who isn't making any effort to hide her tail. Ami thinks to herself, "
Rei can speak that bluntly even with her Papa."
Rei confronts her father, "Don't say we're parent and child at this late hour. Who was the one who left me with the temple?! Don't forget you abandoned me!" She remembers seeing her mother weakly raise her hand in the hospital bed. "When Mama was dying, you left her alone, when she wanted you to be there the most, you weren't there for her." She raises her head in defiance and shouts, "You're the worst!" A flock of birds flutter out of a tree as the two square off against each other. In the silence, Rei's father searches for words, the struggle playing across his face. "It was work that interfered. With Mama and with you. I've told you that how many times!" Rei looks at him and screams, tears creeping into her tone, "Don't blame it on work! Why? Mama and me, no matter what happened to us, you didn't care, did you?" Rei's father struggles a bit more and says, "I'm done talking. It will be fine if you just meet with me for meals." Rei shakes her head, her eyes wide. "There's no way! Mama was that way, too. Getting married to you and dying like that, I feel sorry for her!" She screams at him, "She was miserable!" Furious, her father slaps her full across the face. "Don't you selfishly make Mama out to be miserable!" he shouts with barely contained rage, "What do you understand?!" Rei holds her slapped cheek and faces him with an injured look. "The one who did that to her was you!" she says tearfully and starts to cry. Her father's anger seems to subside and is replaced with what looks like guilt.
As Rei cries, the flowers behind her shake in the wind. Somewhere else, a field of similar flowers start to glimmer and glow, and from the glow, the flowery youma appears.
Rei gives a start at the youma's presence. Quickly, she regains her composure, glares at her father and says, "Don't come again." She then quickly runs past him. He turns as she leaves, but makes no move to follow her.

People are screaming and running away. One unfortunate man trips and finds himself on his back, trying to scoot away as the youma reaches and grabs him by the collar. He screams as he's lifted up by the neck. "Hold it right there!" yells Rei. The youma turns to see her running towards them. She lifts her hands midstride and transforms, "Mars Power, Make up! The soldier of flames and passion, Sailor Mars! In the name of Mars, I'll punish you!" The youma throws the man away and confronts Sailor Mars. She starts off well, managing to get a couple of blows in, but the youma blocks a punch from Mars and throws her back. She gets up in time to see the youma launch an attack of flower petals at her. She gets tossed about and rolls on the ground. The youma walks menacingly towards her. Mars struggles on the ground and her father's voice come back to her, "The soldier of flames and passion, Sailor Mars! In the name of Mars, I'll punish you!" Mars looks up and remembers calling for her mother as a child in the hospital. "Mama! Mama!" A tearful whimper escapes from her as she gets up to try and attack the youma again. The youma gets a hold of her throat. As she struggles, she remembers her father's furious face screaming, "Don't you selfishly make Mama out to be miserable! What do you understand?!" Mars manages to break free of the youma's grasp and tries again to attack it, but it catches her arm and throws her to the ground once more. She whimpers and tries to push herself off the ground, but can't do it. She looks on, helpless, as the youma moves towards her with its hand.
"Hold it right there!" The youma stops and turns around. Sailor Moon, Jupiter, and Luna are running towards them, Moonlight Stick, tambourine, and Moonlight Stick in their hands, respectively. They attack in unison. The youma shrugs it off and disappears in a whirlwind of flower petals. The three run to kneel by Sailor Mars' side. "Rei! Are you okay?" asks Sailor Moon. Mars pushes herself upright. "I'm fine," she says, looking
embarrassed at having to be saved. She gets to her feet and curtly says, "I'm going home." Storming past them, she walks off, transforming back into Rei as she leaves. "Rei..." says Sailor Moon as the three watch her go. "The youma just now," says Jupiter, "it feels like it's just targetting Rei." The other two look at her. "What?" asks Sailor Moon.

In his car, Rei's father grips his hands together angrily. "Nishizaki," he says, "even if you have to use force, bring Rei back." An unseen Nishizaki is surpised. "What? But..." "Do it!" commands Rei's father, shooting him a glare. "Y-yes!" His eyes narrow.
Outside somewhere, on a long bench with bushes and a statue behind it, Mizuno Saeko sits waiting in a prim white outfit. She looks around and glances at her watch. She stands, arms crossed, and looks out, but doesn't see Ami watching her from a stairway behind her. Ami looks at her mother, her face saying that she's turning something over in her head, trying to make a difficult decision. Finally, she makes it, and turns around and runs away. She keep running until she stops to catch her breath.
Rei is still walking away, a look of sadness on her face.

Ami looks out over a railing and her gaze falls.
Rei stops walking and looks up. The moon cycle closes in on her face.
Act 34 preview:
Rei is crying. A young Rei, near the curtains in the hospital calls out, "Papa!" Sailor Mars points in front of her, other hand on her hip.
Ami looks shocked. "Mama!" she says. A young Ami waves as the rides the merry-go-round. There's cute little wings on her back. Ami voice is heard as we see Sailor Mercury beckon to an enemy, "Now, there's something I want to do even more than studying." Ami and Rei are in the karaoke hideout, wearing animal suits and having a pillow fight. Feathers fly everywhere. "Be with my friends."
Rei walks away from her father, who's standing over a grave in a graveyard. Her voice is heard saying, "Why, on that day, did you not come to the hospital?" Ami and Rei are sleeping against each other on the red couch in their animal suits, covered in feathers.
