Whoever's
running the show at HICBC needs to lay off the softskin/pastel filter. |
Both the HICBC preview and
full Toei
preview for Act 33 are go! First HICBC:
Finally, Usagi and Mamoru's affections have united. Although their love has been said to be cursed since their previous existence, seeing Usagi's delighted appearance, her friends cannot
separate them, despite their personal unease. As opposed to Usagi, who's reached the summit of happiness, Ami has been always lonely due to being emotionally isolated from her mother, and Rei, with her father being a politician, has always been resentful of him. Yet the situation has presented itself in such a way that both will have to face off against their parents.
Now Toei:
Top left:
A youma appears one night. Rei and Ami were the ones dispatched after
it, but they are apprehended by a police man suspicious of their behavior. Contacted by the office is Ami's
mother... and Rei's father.
The battle between parents and daughters is beginning.
On the right, in the box with Usagi and Mamoru hugging:
"This world won't be destroyed!"
Having declared these words, Mamoru embraces Usagi. Had they been normal lovers, this would have been the end but... for these two, it's going to be
even more problematic from now on.
The word I translated as "even more problematic" is "taihen."
It can mean dreadful, but it can also be more neutral, like "big
deal." I went for something in the middle. Below that, the with Ami and
her mother:
Minako and Luna scowl as Ami and the other two cheer on 'that' Usagi. And then they
(Makoto/Ami/Rei) lock arms. But, just before that, they've got to deal with "household issues."
That family members would have mutual feelings of love for each other is something you may think is natural. But, there are some families where that isn't the case, and to the extent with which you may consider it to be "mutual",
such love actually becomes confining.
This episode is being done with all our hearts poured into it and when we say, "The live action series was planned to tell these kinds of stories" we're not exaggerating!
In the chronicles of Sailor Moon, this is probably the first time Rei's father and Ami's mother will appear, Masu Takeshi-san and Tsutsui Mariko-san. With these two big veterans of the stage and screen
co-starring, how will we cast face them?
The box below that with the picture of Usagi with the youma from Act 32:
The Making of Act 32
Usagi is captured by a youma while onlookers gather.
Well, that's not right. This is in the midst of a rehearsal for an action
scene. (From the right, supervisor Takamaru , JAE's Itou-san, grip Oomae-san, choreographer Saiki-san, and stunt coordinator Tamayose-san.)
In Act 31, the youma was somehow spontaneously generated. In the upcoming Act 33, he appears arbitrarily again.
Being who she is, this even makes Beryl-sama tilt her head quizzically. As we face the endgame, the youma's "mode" [of operation] seems to also be in the process of changing.
That being the case, we've asked Shinohara Tamotsu-san to design even more new concept youma.
There seems to have been a "star" motif going on between the Act 32 youma having
possessed the "star" Yuuto, and the whole Sailor Moon production
"world"... did you get that?
The box below that has Sailors Moon,
Jupiter, and Luna:
"With the End of Winter"
Ever since Act 13, the sailor senshi have been forced to battle indoors. Now that it's finally become warmer, the ban has been lifted, and battle scenes can also be shot outdoors. While it's not yet the time when we can walk around in t-shirts and short pants, the senshi have already been doing their best... wearing leotards.
Picture caption: Clothing department * Muraoka Mio * Her nickname: KERONPA
Right under that:
Since winter, always keeping the girls company has been jackets sent by manga author Takeuchi Naoko-san. (The cast has
different colored ones.) Moreover, the clothing department's Muraoka-san bought a fleece-lining from
Uniqlo and made some remodels to the
jacket, upgrading its cold-protection by 200%!
With the lifting of the outdoor shooting ban, it means we have to film in the rain too. We've got to continue on rainy days and even as a typhoon approaches, which means "It's really cold!!"
It seems that there will be more days to come when we'll have to rely on
Takeuchi-sensei's jackets. With all our might, from the manga author down to us staff,
we are going to support the cast who put forth both their bodies and spirits
into continuing their heroic fight.
They sure to like to make themselves sound impressive.
Thanks to kenji for help!
