Yes, it's an actual Act 20 synopsis, and it was written for us by
Wasurenagusa and Nae! A HUGE THANK YOU! to
the both of them for getting us this amazingly detailed synopsis on such short
notice. Will I have pictures and captions up for it very late tonight? Stay
right there (...and I'll show you.) Ah, that brings back memories.
Act 20 Synopsis
Introduction
The episode flashes back to a tense scene between Makoto and Rei from Act 19.
"Wait. This conversation isn't over," Makoto snaps as Rei walks out of
the door. Ami pops up in a Mercury symbol in the lower left corner. "These
days, it seems like Rei-chan has been hiding something. While Rei's
secretiveness has made Mako-chan angry…" The scenes flashback to Usagi,
watching Mamoru ride off on his motorcycle with his fiancé. "…Usagi-chan
is having her own issues with Chiba Mamoru." Usagi sighs. "He's still
cool…" Ami continues, "Chiba-kun actually has a fiancé, but…Mako-chan
and I haven't been able to tell Usagi. Usagi herself is worrying over whether or
not to give Chiba-kun the muffler she made, but…"
Act 20
Act 20 begins with Venus still struggling under Nephrite's heel. "I've
taken the Illusionary Silver Crystal," he sneers as he lifts the tiara off
of her head. Mars flips towards him and prepares to attack. "Akuryo Taisan!"
she shouts. Nephrite blocks the attack with his cape and grips the tiara.
"With this, Queen Metallia will be under Queen Beryl's control," he
boasts. "Wait!" Mars cries. Venus yells from the floor, "Get
down!" Suddenly full of energy, she jumps up and aims at the tiara. The
tiara explodes in Nephrite's hand. He chokes, "What have you done to the
Illusionary Silver Crystal?!" "You really thought I'd hand over the
real thing that easily?" Venus smirks and shakes a finger at him, holding
up an orange purse. When she lets it fall open, a pile of fake tiaras spills
out. Mars looks on in shock as Nephrite sweeps away indignantly.
Venus turns to face Mars.
Hidden in a corner, Kunzite watches. "It is strange…. That
princess…" he murmurs. "The Sailor Senshi. I want one."
In the Crown room, Ami is with Luna, knitting a pink mitten. She thinks,
"It seems lately, we are falling apart. But I believe that the four of us
will be here together again."
Opening
Now in civilian form, Rei and Makoto stand, facing each other. "Why are
you here?" asks Minako. Rei says, "I wanted to talk to you one more
time. That's why I searched for you." "I told you not to pay attention
to what I do, didn't I?" Minako snaps back. "I couldn't be satisfied
with what you were doing. It seems like…you're using yourself as bait."
Rei purses her lips. "There's something wrong. Are you really-?"
Minako cuts her off. "You have to remember it on your own," she says.
"What?" Rei asks. "When you awaken as a senshi on your
own…" Minako continues, her voice heavy with emotion, "You will be
able to understand everything. I…That is what I'm waiting for." Rei lets
this register as Minako walks away. She calls out, "Wait!" Minako
turns around. "Don't do anything useless, like following me," she
orders. "You are the one who could be the leader of the Senshi. You know
what to do as a Senshi." She leaves.
In the alley, alone with Artemis, Minako closes her eyes and sways dizzily.
"Minako," says Artemis. She drapes herself on a rail for support.
"Are you all right?" he asks. She nods, breathing heavily.
In the Dark Kingdom, Nephrite reports to Queen Beryl. "I have failed to
obtain the Illusionary Silver Crystal. Forgive me!" Angry, Beryl barks,
"Nephrite. Don't you think there is a limit to failure?" "But
were right about the princess," Jadeite argues. "We never could have
known that she'd prepare fakes of the Illusionary Silver Crystal." "Or
maybe fakes are all she has," Kunzite says quietly. "What do you
mean?" asks Jadeite. Kunzite smirks. "Nothing." "When are
you going stop sitting there, doing nothing but watching and jumping to
conclusions?" Nephrite demands. "Make even a little effort for
Beryl-sama!" Kunzite waves him off. "No need to worry. I'm planning
something interesting. You just take a break for a little while." He pats
Nephrite's shoulder and leaves. "I won't take orders from you!"
Nephrite calls after him. Beryl ponders Kunzite's words. "Something
interesting? What is that man thinking?" she wonders.
At the Crown, Motoki, with Makoto's muffler around his neck, is gloating to
Kamekichi: "You're not the only one who's in a love situation." He
hears Makoto walking in and scrambles to compose himself. "Good
afternoon," she says breezily, flashing him her pass. Motoki grins and
says, "Welcome!" She walks past him. "The muffler's warm!"
he cries as Makoto waves him away over her shoulder. "Thank you!" he
screams, climbing over the counter, waving back.
In the Senshi room, Luna plays with a ball of blue yarn. "Ahh! Oop!"
she squeaks as the ball of yarn rolls away. "Sorry Ami-chan." Ami
smiles and assures Luna, "It's okay." "I won't be mischievous
again," Luna promises.
When Makoto walks in, Ami holds up a green ball of yarn. "Mako-chan!
Look at this color!" she says excitedly. "Sorry. Ask me later,"
Makoto answers. "I still think I should tell Usagi." Ami looks down,
disappointed. "About Chiba-kun?" she asks. Makoto nods. "It's not
bad to fall in love with someone who is engaged, but isn't it better to at least
know? What do you think?" Ami answers, "If you think it's a good
idea…I'm not good at that sort of thing." She clutches at the green yarn.
Oblivious, Makoto says, "Got it. I'm going now."
Ami looks down sadly. Luna remarks in a worried tone, "Usagi-chan was
just getting over it…now she'll be devastated all over again" Ami nods as
Rei walks in. "Makoto, went out in a hurry," Rei comments. "What
happened?" Ami averts her eyes. "Um…she has something to do."
"And Usagi?" "Just some things…" Ami says. "But I
don't think she has forgotten about the enemy." Rei puts on a serious
expression. "That's okay. I'm on the lookout." "Eh?" Ami
asks. Rei replies, "I've learned that I must be strong as a Senshi. In
order to do that, I have to fight on my own as much as I can." As Ami gets
up to pour Rei a drink, Luna objects: "But Rei-chan, we've been working
together. That's how we have been able to fight." Rei shakes her head.
"It's not enough!" she says. "The princess is fighting
alone."
Just as Ami returns to the table with tea, Rei jumps out of her seat.
"Nothing will get done if I stay here," she announces. "I'll look
around for any movements of the enemy." She leaves without noticing the
tea. Luna sighs, "Lately, we are falling apart. It's not a good
trend." Ami says, "At some point…it will get back to normal."
Luna makes a sound of agreement.
In her room, Usagi holds the muffler and remembers Tuxedo Kamen's words. * flashback*
"If you love him…don't give up easily. A time might come when it is
possible for you to give it to him." *end flashback* Usagi thinks,
"With Tuxedo Kamen saying such a thing, I can almost believe it."
Ikuko knocks on her door, and Usagi scrambles to hide the muffler. "Usagi?
A friend has come to visit!" "Okay!" Usagi replies. "Come
inside," says Ikuko. Hikari walks through the door. "Hikari-chan!"
Usagi exclaims. "Good Afternoon!" Hikaru greets her. Ikuko croons,
"She was worried about you! I'll go make some Cafe Ole!" She starts to
leave, dancing a little, but Hikari stops her. "Don't worry about it,
please! I will be leaving soon." "Really?" asks Ikuko, leaning
down towards her. "You're little, but so proper! Usagi, you should follow
her example," she teases.
Usagi and Hikari sit at Usagi's floor table. "You have a date with
Daichi-kun? Looks like things are going smoothly!" Usagi says. "But we
can't go far if it's just us children," Hikari points out.
"Usagi-chan, will you come with us?" Usagi looks surprised.
"Me?" "It's not a date if Mama comes," Hikaru argues. Usagi
seems unsure. "Isn't it the same if it's me?" she asks. Hikari says,
"Daichi-kun says he's bringing Hina-san's boyfriend." Usagi does a
double take. "What?…You mean…Chiba Mamoru? But what about Hina-san?"
Hikari beams. "She has something to do. It would be a double date!"
Usagi looks half-terrified. "Double...date?" She glances at the
muffler she's shoved under a pillow.
Mamoru and Daichi are standing together at a bus stop. "Daichi-kun!"
Hikari cries as she and Usagi run towards them. "Hikari chan!" Daichi
answers. Mamoru turns his head and starts when he sees Usagi. She says shyly,
"Good afternoon." "You're coming too?" Mamoru asks. He
chuckles. "Just don't get lost." Hikari speaks up. "It's okay.
I'm with her." "I'll look for her too," Daichi chimes in. Usagi
whines good-naturedly. "You're all mean!" She laughs. Hikari turns to
Daichi. "Daichi-kun, when we get there, let's play badminton!" she
suggests. "Sure!" Daichi agrees. As they speak, Makoto, covered by a
hat and scarf, pulls sunglasses out of her pocket and puts them on. The bus
arrives.
The four sit in the back of the bus, Daichi and Hikari placed between and
Mamoru and Usagi. "Hikari-chan, the chocolate was delicious," Daichi
says to Hikari. She smiles and returns, "And you're great at playing
games." "I'll teach you about games next time," he offers.
"Thank you! You're so kind!" During their exchange, Mamoru and Usagi
surreptitiously glance at each other, hoping the other doesn't notice.
Meanwhile, towards the front of the bus, Makoto listens to the conversation.
At the park, Mamoru hands everyone a ticket. "Thanks!" say Daichi
and Hikari. "Thank you…" Usagi says awkwardly. "Daichi-kun,
let's go!" Hikari cries. "Okay!" Daich and Hikari run ahead.
Mamoru grows concerned. "Hey!" he yells. "Don't go too far."
"Okaaaaay," they call back. Usagi and Mamoru slowly follow the kids
into the park. She thinks to herself, Don't think too much about it! He'll
think it's strange. She composes herself. "W-we should speed up! We
might get separated from the children." Mamoru nods in agreement, but as he
prepares to quicken his pace, he notices Usagi walking as if her legs were made
of wood. A smile breaks across his face. "That's a funny way of
walking," he remarks. Mortified, Usagi tries to regain control of her legs.
Unable to, she looks up at him and breathes out a nervous, embarrassed laugh.
Hikari calls out to them, "Usagi-chaaaan! Here, faster!"
"Faster!" Daichi echoes. "We're coming!" Usagi answers, and
nodding at Mamoru, they catch up to the kids. Behind them Makoto drops a handful
of coins and scrambles to pick them up.
Usagi and Mamoru help Daichi and Hikari take turns on a ball swing (like a
tire swing, except with a big ball instead of a tire). "I'll go next!"
Usagi says, pulling back the rope. "Huh? Onee-chan (big sister) will
go?" asks Daichi. "Of course!" Usagi answers, jumping on the
swing. Mamoru smiles from the swing platform as she cries out in delight. After
the swing, they play a game of badminton. "Usagi!" Mamoru says as he
hits the bird towards her. Usagi hits it hard and grins, but as she watches it
fly, her grin fades. The scene changes to Mamoru climbing a tree and reaching
for the bird. "Are you all right?" Hikari and Daichi ask.
"Yeah," Mamoru says, straining. "Got it!" He turns and
stretches his arm out, handing the bird to Usagi.
The four play a game of rock, paper, scissors to determine teams in a game of
dodgeball. Usagi and Mamoru put out rocks, and Hikari and Daichi put out
scissors. "Daichi-kun's it!" Hikari announces. "Escape!"
Usagi shrieks. They run around the park. Mamoru, Daichi, and Hikari take turns
hitting Usagi with the ball until she laughs and yells, "Hey!"
Once dodgeball ends, they all sit on a blanket and have a picnic. Hikari
hands Daichi a sandwich. "Here you go, Daichi-kun."
"Thanks!" he says. "There are so many dishes to eat!" Usagi
comments happily. "What will you eat? A hamburger?" Hikari asks Daichi.
"Yup!" he replies. Mamoru gives the food a bow of acknowledgement.
"Itadakimasu." he says (it is Japanese custom to say "I will
receive the food" prior to each meal). He takes a bite of a sandwich.
"Hey, it's pretty good!" he remarks. Usagi smiles and laughs, shyly.
"My turn to eat!" she says. She takes a bit for herself. "Mmm,
it's delicious!"

After their picnic, the four walk through the park, Daichi and Hikari walking
between Mamoru and Usagi. Mamoru holds Daichi's hand while Usagi holds Hikari's
hand. "That was fun!" Usagi tells Hikari. "I know!" Hikari
answers. "Was it fun for you too?" Mamoru asks Daichi.
"Yup!" Hikari and Daichi connect the chain by hold hands, and Usagi
and Mamoru try not to notice.
From her hiding place, Makoto removes her sunglasses. "What is going
on?" she wonders. "I was thinking of telling Usagi about his
engagement…"
Meanwhile, Rei is reading the fire at the shrine. She opens her eyes,
frustrated. "I guess…I won't be able to see it that easily…."
Suddenly, the fire blazes, and Rei jerk her head up. Outside, in the street, a
youma appears before a woman and disappears. She screams, attracting a crowd.
"There was a monster here!" she shrieks. "Please believe
me!" Rei arrives on the scene just in time to witness the woman's claim.
"What was that?" wonders Rei. "I feel their auras are
disappearing as well…" Youmas continue to pop up and disappear, evading
Rei, who is running to catch one. All of the youma's look like youmas they've
fought before. "The illusions of youma..." Rei thinks. "But
why?"
In the Dark Kingdom, Jadeite marches after Kunzite and demands,
"Kunzite! What do you plan to do by releasing the illusions of the youmas?!"
Kunzite gives a mysterious smile. "Don't worry about it," he says
shortly. Jadeite refuses to back down and continues to nag: "If you cause a
disturbance, the Sailor Senshi will be on alert, and it will be hard to
gather-" Kunzite cuts him off. "Jadeite. Don't strain yourself,"
he says quietly. "If you always work with Nephrite, you will see
failure." "What?" asks a bewildered Jadeite. "Have you never
had any doubts about the princess?" Kunzite asks. "About the
Princess?" Jadeite echoes, confused.
Meanwhile, Minako is in her bed at the hotel looking pale and weak. Artemis
wrings the water out of a washcloth. "Minako, let's rest for awhile
here," he says. "But..." she murmurs. "Your load will become
too heavy for you if you go on," Artemis insists. "But we knew about
that," Minako argues. "Ah…but you're…" Artemis trails off,
placing the washcloth on her forehead. "Thank you," says Minako.
"Even if only Mars awakens…" she begins. "There are
chances…but it's not good to be overcome by emotion," warns Artemis.
Kunzite's voice carries over the images of youma flashing around Tokyo.
"I want to test my doubts about the princess. In order to do that, we will
use the Sailor Senshi."

Mamoru, Daichi, Hikari, and Usagi are still walking in the park. "I'm
tired," says Usagi. "Oh, let's go ride that thing over there!"
Hikari cries. Usagi sits on a bench. "I can't! Just give me a minute,
please!" She laughs a little. "You two go," says Mamoru to the
children. "We will be waiting here." "Okay!" shout the kids,
running off. Usagi and Mamoru look at each other and smile awkwardly.
"Would you like something to drink?" Mamoru asks. "Sure!"
says Usagi. In her hiding spot, Makoto tells herself, "The children are
gone! There are no obstacles right now!" Mamoru hands Usagi a cup.
"Thank you," she says taking it. He sits down next to her and looks
off into the distance, smiling. "Now this is a nice atmosphere! This may
be...!" Makoto crows. Usagi takes a peek at the muffler in her purse. She
thinks silently, This is like a dream...If I act now, I may be able to give
it to him. She takes a breath. "Um…" she starts, turning to him.
"My tutor is here!" Daichi's shout cuts through the park. Usagi
turns around and is taken aback to see Hina. The smile has disappeared off of
Mamoru's face. "Hina?" he says. Hina smiles. "I was able to
finish what I had to do early," she explains. Daichi drags Hina down to sit
next to Mamoru as Usagi shuffles herself out of the way. "Here,
sensei," he says to her. "Daichi, what are you doing?" asks a
confused Hina. "You're his bride, so you sit next to him." Daichi
says. "B-bride?" Usagi stammers. Hina laughs at Daichi and looks a
little embarrassed. "Not any time soon…not until after we graduate from
college," she says modestly. Mamoru looks away. In her hiding place, Makoto
winces. Usagi takes a few steps back, clutching her purse with the muffler
inside. "Is that so…?" she says. "I see..." Suddenly, a
youma catches her eye. She looks up and around as more pop up. Mamoru notices
her distraction. "Is something wrong?" he asks. "Mm-mm!"
Usagi shakes her head and smiles, but the youmas keep appearing, and she can't
help but turn her head towards them. "I-I remembered something I have to
do!" Usagi cries. Hina and Mamoru stand up. "Eh?" Hina says
disappointedly. "I thought we'd go out to eat." Usagi backs away.
"I'm sorry! Another time!" "Take care!" Hina calls after
her. Mamoru stares after Usagi, concerned. In her hiding place, Makoto berates
herself. "Usagi…if you were to find out like this, it would have been
better if I had told you myself," she says.
Usagi runs past the park and into the woods. She stops, holding her bag.
"I was so stupid," she says sadly, "to hope a little…"
Just then youma illusions pop up all around her. Recognizing the danger, Usagi
transforms into Sailor Moon.
Back at the park, Mamoru starts walking in the direction Usagi ran off in.
"Where are you going?" asks Hina. Mamoru looks over his shoulder.
"I'll be right back," he reassures her. Makoto gets a suspicious look
on her face.
Elsewhere in the city, Rei is dealing with the other youma apparitions.
"Just as I have thought..." she says. "They're all illusions.
But…why?"
In the Crown room, Luna is sleeping peacefully as Ami adds the finishing
touches to a pink, blue, red, and green scarf. "They're done!" she
exclaims, stretching. She looks at Luna and smiles. Ami leaves the Crown by
herself, allowing Luna to get her rest.
Sailor Moon is fighting with the youma, but can't seem to figure out what's
going on. Tuxedo Kamen runs towards her with his cane, ready to help. He stops
abruptly when Makoto blocks his path. "So it was you," she says
severely. "Chiba Mamoru." They look at each other menacingly.
On the street, Ami jumps back as Kunzite appears in a swirl of black rose
petals. "Kunzite!" Ami strikes an attack pose. He sneers at her.
"I thought, if I were to get one, it would be you," he says.
"I'll tell you first, it's useless to call your friends. They won't be able
to catch up." Ami raises her arms and shouts, "Mercury Power! Make
up!" She transforms into Sailor Mercury. "It's useless!" Kunzite
repeats. Mercury attacks him with "Shine Aqua Illusion!" and
"Mercury Aqua Beam!" Kunzite blocks both attacks with his sword.
Mercury's eyes widen in shock. "Sailor Mercury!" Kunzite growls.
"Starting today, you are mine!" He sends a swirl of black towards her
with a sweep of his sword, and it engulfs her. Mercury tries to block the attack
with her arms, but to no avail. The black shadows wrap around her and fade. She
stands still again, her eyes closed.

The apparitions of the youma stop. Rei and Sailor Moon stop fighting.
"What does this mean?" thinks Sailor Moon.
Makoto and Tuxedo Kamen continue glaring at each other.
A gust of wind blows loudly on the empty street where Ami was standing. A
dead leaf scuttles around in her place.
Luna is still sleeping soundly in the Crown room, the pink, blue, red, and
green scarf wrapped around her neck. Four mittens sit in a row on the table,
green, red, blue, and pink. The moon cycle closes in on the mittens.
Act 21 Preview
Ami cheerfully says to Makoto: "I want to go to the amusement
park!"
"What?" Makoto asks.
Riding on a carousel, Ami waves to Makoto. "Mako-chan!" she calls
out happily. Makoto waves back.
Beryl demands of Kunzite, "What were the interesting things you were
talking about?" He says, "It will soon be time." A general's
gloved hand closes over the bloom of Kunzite's black rose.
Ami is limp and unconscious on the carousel. "Ami-chan!" cries
Makoto.
Ami walks to Kunzite with a dead expression in her eyes as Jupiter's voice
cries, "I won't let you put Ami-chan under your will!"
As the other Senshi prepare to attack, Jupiter steps forward. She shouts.
"You! What have you done with Ami-chan?!"
Kunzie smirks. "Show them."
Nodding, Ami steps towards the Senshi. Her face breaks into an ominous smile.
Nice! Once again, a gigantic thank you to Wasurenagusa and Nae!!
For some good news, though, note that Serecindra has her storyboard
graphics up for this week's show!
