Live Action Sailor Moon update (Seventeenth Episode synopsis)

A HUGE, GIGANTIC, SUPER, ULTRA, ENORMOUS thanks to Aaron Malhiot (DoseiNoSenshi) and Namiko Kodera - Aino Minako （小寺菜見子・あいのみなこ) for getting this synopsis of Act 17 done even while being recently discharged from the hospital! The text of the synopsis is all theirs, horrible picture captions are mine, so blame them naught for that.

 

Act 17

 

The curtains open to Luna and “oh crap!” music.  “We’re in some big trouble!  The enemy had captured several humans and collected massive amounts of energy!”  “It’s a sign of the resurrection.  The great evil, Queen Metaria!” Kunzite said.  “The enemy’s power might be becoming even stronger!” Luna said in her little paw bubble.  “But Usagi-chan has other things on her mind.”  Images of Mamoru and his ‘girlfriend’ are shown.  Usagi watches the two walk out of Mamoru’s apartment building.  “It’ll be cold on the motorcycle,” Mamoru tells his ‘girlfriend’.  “Nah, I don’t think so,” she replies.  Mamoru is looking at her, but notices something behind him.  Usagi stands in his stare.  ‘Girlfriend’ looks back as well, then back to Mamoru, “What’s wrong, Mamoru?”  “Nothing,” he says suddenly, and then looks back at Usagi.  They stare at each other, Usagi and Mamoru.  Usagi looks down at the ground and walks away as Mamoru and ‘girlfriend’ watch her.  “He has a girlfriend.  Whatever…  I’m not involved,” Usagi thinks.  Mamoru and ‘girlfriend’ turn and walk the opposite way.

Mamoru and ‘girlfriend’ walk up to his bike, “Was that girl your acquaintance?  Did she come to see you?”  “If she has something to say, she’ll return later.”  “Oh, I see!”  They get on Mamoru’s bike.  Mamoru picks up his helmet then thinks, “Did she come to see me?”  He stares off, “No way!” He pulls his helmet over his head, starts his bike, and looks back at ‘girlfriend’.  She pulls down her visor and they take off.  Usagi is walking down some path with trees without leaves on the side.  She is looking down at her bag of cookies for Mamoru, then looks up upon the sound of a motorcycle bike.  She flips around to see Mamoru on his bike with his ‘girlfriend’ behind her on the street beside the path she’s on.  He goes by while Usagi watches him.  The scene is repeated twice in a slower motion each time.  Usagi watches them go off.  She turns around to walk the other way [where she had been coming from].  Usagi is walking down a different sidewalk with an angry look on her face.  The bag of cookies has been opened.  “Yeah…  I’m really not involved with him,” Usagi says looking back.  “…Not involved.”  Usagi digs into the bag and pulls out a cookie.  She takes a bite out of it, but then she begins to run.  She continues to run until she reaches the middle of some crosswalk at a pedestrian-busy intersection.  Everyone else becomes slow motion-like and blurry.  Usagi hears someone’s voice say, “Next, we have information about Minako Aino who has gone missing.”  Usagi turns and looks up at a screen showing the news on a building’s side.  “Minako Aino has canceled many of her near-future appointments and is taking a break before her next album.”  Usagi begins to walk off.

The male reporter’s voice fades into a female reporter’s voice reporting the same thing in Minako’s place (She looks like she’s in a hotel of some sort, though).  “We don’t know the whereabouts of Minako, but rumors are being spread that she is sick.  The fans—” the report is cut off by Artemis turning the TV off.  “We can gain time because the enemy is unable to find us,” Artemis tells Minako.  She starts to flip through a magazine, and Artemis asks, “Are you okay?”  “Yeah.  I’m fine,” she replies weakly, but with a stern look.  She then drops the magazine and Artemis gasps.  Minako holds her hand up to her head and falls onto the couch behind her.  “Minako!” Artemis calls.  She slumps to the side blankly and her eyes close.  “Minako!”

Try Get A Chance!  It doesn’t make sense, but okay!

In the Dark Kingdom, Kunzite is swiftly walking about Beryl’s lair, “Time to wake up, Great Queen Metaria!  Just one more thing to do.”  “Queen Metaria,” Beryl says.  Kunzite flips around to look at Beryl.  “Kunzite, you should gather more energy to completely awaken her!” Beryl tells him.  “I have tried to gather energy only for Queen Metaria, even if you haven’t ordered me to.”  Beryl looks at him intensely, but she then looks at Nephrite upon him swearing at Kunzite, “Damn you for not moving in Beryl’s name!”  “Lady Beryl has you.  You should help her a little.”  “Lady Beryl,” another voice calls from behind Nephrite and Kunzite.  “Jadeite!” Nephrite says.  “Have you awaken?” Beryl asks.  Jadeite kneels, “I’m sorry for being gone so long.”  Beryl smiles, “Welcome back!  Please work for me!”  “Yes ma’am, I give you my heart.”

At Jûban Junior High, the girls in Usagi’s class are in what looks like a home economics class.  The teachers calls, “Today’s class is finished.  A group’s assignment is to make a muffler.”  “Yes, ma’am,” the group replies.  “B group’s assignment is to make a one piece.  Good luck!”  “Yes, ma’am,” B group replies.  “These assignments are due by the final exam.  You should think about the person who you’ll give the one piece and the muffler because that makes it more enjoyable!  For example, a boyfriend!”  Naru leans to Usagi, “Of course you’ll give yours to Chiba-kun!”  Usagi looks at her shocked, “Huh?!”  She remembers Mamoru and ‘girlfriend’ look back at her.

Whoah.

Usagi is now in the secret room, moping to herself.  “Ahh, your class also has the muffler assignment?” Makoto asks Usagi and Ami.  “I could have chosen to make a one piece, but I’m good at making mufflers,” Ami says.  “That’s a cute color, but it doesn’t suit you, Ami-chan.  Who’s it for?” Makoto says.  “This is my mom’s favorite color!  The teacher said to imagine the person who is to where the muffler while we make them.”  “Oh yeah, the teacher did say that!  Who should I make mine for?  Ah!  Usagi!  Have you decided who you’ll give your muffler to?”  Usagi is startled and looks up at Makoto suddenly, “Huh?!”  She takes a breath and remembers Mamoru stopping and looking at her.  “I…,” Usagi says out loud.  She then thinks, “I…”  She gets a giant smile on her face.  “…Of course, Tuxedo Mask!!” she says out loud.  “Huh?!” Makoto says.  Ami’s face has amazement all over it, “Why?!”  “Because I shouldn’t be giving gifts to Mamoru Chiba!” Usagi answers Ami, and then quickly looks to Makoto, “I love Tuxedo Mask!”  “What are you talking about?”  “AH!  I’m going to go buy some wool yarn!  I’m imagining Tuxedo Mask!”  Usagi reaches into a cute cabinet for her purse, grabs her coat and takes off.  “Hold on, Usagi!” Makoto shouts.  Usagi ignores her and leaves.  Makoto looks at Ami, “What’s up with her?”  “I don’t know…”  “I’m gonna follow her, so if Rei comes, let her know!”  Makoto gathers her things to leave, but Ami says to her, “But Rei isn’t going to be here today!  Today is the anniversary of her mother’s death, so she’ll be at church.”  Makoto pauses.  “Church?”

A stone with a cross on it reads “Risa Hino  1963-1995”.  Rei kneels before it and lays a bouquet of white flowers over it.  She looks up at the huge stone cross jutting up from the ground and holds her hands together.  She closes her eyes and bows her head.  A Caucasian priest walks up behind her, “Your mother will be glad.  If you come here with your father, your mother would be even happier.”  “My father was working when my mother died,” Rei says harshly.  “I don’t expect my mother to want him here.”  He pats his hand on her shoulder and walks off.  A church bell rings near by.

Minako kneels before an altar, which is before beautiful stained glass.  Minako’s hands are clutched together as she stares ahead with something obviously on her mind. 

“Sailor V is the Princess?” Jadeite asks Nephrite.  “Yeah.  She has the Phantom Silver Crystal.  If we can get that crystal, we can awaken Queen Metaria.”  Nephrite remembers V transforming into Venus and all the bright lights (and apparently her escaping from her idol life).  “I missed my opportunity to steal the crystal.  Kunzite is being conceited!  His attitude toward Queen Beryl is not appropriate.”  Kunzite is seen practicing slashing his sword through the air.  It then looks like he sneezes…  [It’s said in Japan that if someone is talking about you, you will sneeze.]  He then turns around.  “I guess he is trying to keep power from Queen Beryl and give it to Queen Metaria.”  “Impossible!” Jadeite shouts, “I will gather human energy and Queen Metaria will be beside Queen Beryl. 

Usagi is speed walking down a concrete path with a strange smile.  Makoto runs up behind her, “Usagi!  I told you many times, Tuxedo Mask is the enemy!”  She grabs her arm and pulls her from her walk.  “I also told you that he’s helped me many times!”  She begins to walk again.  “But he is a thief!”

Even from here you can see the look on his face, and it's pure horror.

In a yarn store, Usagi pick up a skein of pink yarn and thinks, “pinnnnk…”  She imagines placing a pink muffler over Tuxedo Mask’s neck.  “No, pink doesn’t fit him,” she says out loud.  She then picks up a light blue, “Water collllored,” she thinks.  She imagines placing a light blue muffler over Tuxedo Mask’s neck.  “No, water colored doesn’t fit him.”  “Yellow!” she thinks as she picks a skein of yellow yarn up.  She imagines putting a yellow muffler around Tuxedo Mask’s neck.  “Nope.”  All the while, Makoto is watching her pick.  “Rei is getting strange feelings about him, but anyway, a thief is bad!”  “Mmm, let’s keep looking!”  Usagi pulls Makoto, but Makoto stops, “Usagi, are you listening?”  “Yes I am!”  She nods and runs around.

Usagi tosses a white skein up outside and says, “I’m ready!”  “Come on!  Tuxedo Mask is the enemy so you shouldn’t be loving him!  You’ll be sad if—” Makoto is cut off by Usagi screaming.  “AHH!  I’m hungry!”  She runs off and Makoto follows again, “Usagi!”

Back in the church, Minako is still before the altar.  She looks a bit sad, but then closes her eyes.  She exits to the outside and puts on a cute hat to cover her face.  Rei enters another section of the outside of the church.  The two girls walk by each other at the base of a staircase.  A swishing sound is made as if their energies are catching one another.  “Excuse me!” a male voice calls.  “What’s up?” Minako says as the priest comes up to her.  “Please help me!” He says as he leads her away.  Rei follows.  “Over here!”  He has led Minako to a dog lying on the ground.  “He is very weak!”  Minako and the priest kneel beside the cute thing (it appears to be an older dog) and Rei appears from behind them.  “Poor thing,” Minako says petting it gently.  Rei has knelt behind it.  Minako looks up at Rei and thinks, “Sailor Mars…”  Rei looks at her.  “Why are you here?” Minako continues to think.

Bludgeon commercials to death with a toaster.

No dog puppet?!

Inside, the priest places a blanket over the dog and pets its head.  Minako is gentler on its back.  “Its body temperature is very low,” the priest says.  “I think he’ll get better if he stays warm.”  “Thank goodness,” Minako says as she and Rei smile.  “Father,” a nun says as she enters, “It’s time to go.”  He gets up, “Yes, that’s right.”  “Ah, I’ll take care of it!” Rei says.  “Me, too,” Minako says.  “Thank you!  I’m grateful.”  He leaves and Minako continues to pet the dog, “You’re okay.”  She smiles lightly.  Rei looks up at her.

At a park, Usagi is eating and Makoto is feeding pigeons.  “Of course [the best] winter food is the sweet potato!”  She continues to eat two of them simultaneously.  She then chokes and coughs a bit.  “Are you okay?” Makoto asks as Usagi pats her chest.  “Mako-chan, tell me how to make a muffler!  I couldn’t understand the lesson in class.”  “Okay, but not for Tuxedo Mask because it’s homework.”  “I know that!”  Usagi continues to eat, then Makoto questions, “Usagi, do you really love him?”  “Yeah, why?”  “Well, because you haven’t said it clearly.”  “I haven’t?”  Usagi stares off as she has stopped chewing on her food.  She remembers sharing her hot, meat-filled bun with Mamoru, saying she thanks him, just a little bit.  Usagi swallows her food and jumps up, scaring the pigeons away. “Let’s go back to the room and sing!”  She runs off without her things, leaving Makoto to grab them.  “Huh?!  What the heck?!  She forgot her wool yarn!  Usagi, what’s with this enthusiasm?!”

Back at the church, the girls are wiping the dog (of sweat?!).  Its head is perked up now, so it must be feeling better.  “Ah, I see,” Rei says.  Minako looks at her.  “I feel like we’ve met each other before,” Rei says as she picks up a magazine with Minako’s picture on it, showing it to her.  Minako gets a big smile.  “Huh?”  “You’re the first girl who doesn’t know me.”  Rei smiles, “I don’t watch TV so much, but I have a friend who really loves you.  It seems that she got your signature and forgot it.”  “Oh, I remember her!”

Usagi jumps off the stage in the secret room, singing “C’est La Vie” very enthusiastically.  Ami and Makoto watch her, being disturbed from their knitting.  Their watchful eyes become very annoyed as Usagi’s loudness increases along with her off-tune voice.  Her performance today should prohibit her from ever singing again.

At least she didn't sing in "Me" and "You".

Rei is walking around the room, “So even performers come to church alone?”  “I like it.  I’ve been thinking about various things.”  “Various things?”  “Yeah…  Various things.”  Minako stares thoughtfully as she pets the dog.  Rei watches her.  The dogs stomach growls.  The girls smile and Rei says, “You’re fine because you’re hungry!”  Minako reaches into her pockets and pulls out a couple lozenges.  “I only have these lozenges.”  “It can’t eat those!” Rei says smiling.  Minako hands her one.  “Thanks!” 

Outside, the priest is walking down some stairs with a notebook under his arm.  He reaches the base and looks up to see a youma.  It jumps down and tackles him with a screech.  Papers go everywhere.  Rei senses the youma, as does the dog.  Rei jumps up and thinks, “Youma!”  She runs to the door and tells Minako, “Please wait.”  She then leaves.  “No way,” Minako says.  Rei runs one way and realizes she’s gone the wrong way and turns to take another path.  She sees the youma over the priest and shouts, “Stop!”  It turns and sees her.  “Mars Power!  Make Up!!  I am the soldier of flames and passion, Sailor Mars!  In the name of Mars, I’ll punish you!”  She stands and throws a ball of fire at the youma, shouting, “妖魔退散!!” 

It twirls and dodges and then takes off.  Mars runs after it.  Minako appears from behind them, also following.  “Minako!” Artemis shouts.  She stops.  “You can’t fight now, it’s impossible!”  Minako watches Mars run after the youma.  “But…”

“Ahh!  This muffler would match Tuxedo Mask, huh?” Usagi squeals as she, Ami and Makoto walk down a path full of bikes.  “What are you talking about?” Makoto says.  “You have a long ways to go before you’re finished, so how can you tell?”  “It’s okay because—” their phones ringing cut off Usagi.  “Everyone, a youma has appeared and Sailor Mars is fighting it!” Luna’s voice tells them over the cells.  The girls glare behind them.  “Gotchya,” Makoto says.  They then run off.  A train is pulling by next to the girls running.  Usagi runs up some stairs (had this been the anime, should would have fallen because of her daring to skip more than two at a time) leading Makoto and Ami.  She turns to shout, “Hurry!” at the other girls and turn again to keep running, but she slams into Mamoru and ‘girlfriend’.  She drops the beginning of the muffler she’s knitting as she looks at them in shock.  Mamoru gasps as they look into each other’s eyes.  Makoto and then Ami run up behind Usagi.  Usagi looks over at ‘girlfriend,’ who blinks.  There’s a long, uncomfortable pause as they stare at one another.  ‘Girlfriend’ looks down and shouts, “Ah, oh no!”  She picks up the knitting.  “I’m sorry, this is still being made!  This is necessary for you, isn’t it?”  Usagi looks down, “Necessary…”  She looks back at Mamoru.  After another pause, she snatches the knitting from ‘girlfriend’ and says, “I’m sorry!” as she darts off.  “Usagi!” Makoto shouts, “I need to hurry!”  “Excuse us!” Ami says.  Theu run after her and Makoto shouts, “Usagi!  You’re going the wrong way!”  Ami stops, “Usagi-chan…”  Usagi runs down some stairs and goes to turn, but Makoto pulls her back, “Usagi!  What’s wrong?!”  “His girlfriend looks like a kind person,” Usagi says.  “Huh?” Makoto says.  “I made a good effort, but I can’t stop…”  She turns around and looks up with watery eyes.  “I love…”  Mamoru suddenly turns around as she says this (from where he is).

Something about this thing makes me crack up. I have no idea what it is, and that's driving me crazy.

The youma runs out onto the stage in some gym at the church.  It stops and points a sword at Mars who has appeared from behind it.  They jump onto the floor and pose.  Mars cartwheels by as the youma tries to slash her. 

 “妖魔退散!!”  The youma dodges by twirling again.  Mars looks disappointed, but poses again.  The youma charges at her, but she flips out of the way.  She goes to kick it, but misses and it tries to slash her, but she cartwheels.  It slashes, she backs up, it slashes, she backs up, it stabs, and she ducks.  The youma then fires a purple beam from the end of its sword, knocking Mars to the ground.  She glares at it.  Minako runs out onto the stage behind the youma.  It is walking toward Mars who is trying to back away on the ground.  Minako runs forward a bit, but Artemis shouts, “Wait!”  Minako turns to him, “Wait, Minako!  You mustn’t!”  “But…”  She looks forward.  “Minako!!”  “Stop!” Minako shouts, standing firmly on stage.  The youma turns to see her.  “Don’t!  Run!!”  Mars shouts.  “Venus Power!  Make Up!!”  Her normal tiara is on throughout her transformation and speech, “I’m the soldier of love and beauty, Sailor Venus!  In the name of Venus, I’ll punish you!”  She now wears her princess tiara and crescent insignia.  Mars looks at her in pure awe.  She gets out of her ‘punish you’ pose and says, “The Phantom Silver Crystal is here!  Come get it if you want it.”  Her tiara glows.  The youma gasps and Mars stands.  “No way…  Minako Aino is,” she says out loud, then in her head, “Sailor Venus…”  Venus jumps up in front of the youma.  She holds her hands together in “O” shapes, with the index and pinkies extended and blows on them.  She then holds them out.  Artemis glares at her.

Elsewhere, Usagi sits on a stair and Makoto stands a few above her.  Usagi looks at the start of her muffler in her hand.

The youma stabs around as Venus and Mars cartwheel around it.  They stand and look at each other.  Mars nods.  They walk around it quickly as Venus pulls out her Crescent Boomerang.  She tosses it at the youma, but it flings the item away with its sword.  Mars and Artemis gasp.  Venus glares at it.

It’s nighttime and Usagi is walking down a sidewalk slowly.  She stops and looks behind her into traffic.

"But I'm not wearing any pants."

Mars and Venus are taking a while on defeating this youma.  “It’s a big ‘harvest’ that I’ve found the Princess!” Jadeite says from behind the curtains on the stage.  Venus glares at the youma as it holds its sword at her.  Venus crouches, then jumps over the youma.  She does the little blow-on-the-fingers thing again, and launches a beam at the youma.  It gets pushed back a bit, but then breaks it.  The youma then swirls its sword, and throws it by Venus.  It misses her, but hits the wall behind her causing an explosion that throws her to the floor.  “Ahh!” Artemis yells.  The youma runs off, and Mars runs to Venus, “Princess!  Are you okay?!”  “I’m okay!  You should hurry and get the youma!  Follow it!!”  “But…  But are you okay?!”  “What are you talking about?!  You missed the youma…”  She stands.  “I’m disappointed in you.”  Mars’ eyes go wide as she sits on the floor below Venus.  “You are utterly not growing as a soldier!!” Venus shouts.  Mars’ face screams, “What?!”  She looks down as Venus glares at her.  As a church bell rings, Mars glares back at Venus.  She stands and they glare at each other some more.  The moon cycle enwraps them.

Next time on The Guardian Light [pun]…

“Why don’t you work with us?” Rei asks.  “Because I need to stay separated from you,” Minako replies.  “If so, then don’t appear on a whim!” Rei says.

“Engagement?” Makoto says. 

“Fiancée?!” Ami says.

“Ugh, I’m so disappointed!  I can enjoy myself if only this feeling would go away!” Usagi says.

“Are you looking for me?” Venus says above the four guardians, Nephrite and Jadeite, and their youma.  “Aren’t you?”  “Why?” Mars says.  “Princess…  I am looking for you!” Nephrite says.  The five soldiers pose.

“Half a year more,” Minako says.
